Frank.... RB Motion makes turned aluminum rod ends as well and he sells smaller tubing too. I have a website at home that has small medical grade tubing. Its stuff that goes smaller than what K&S Metals sells. I can post later if you'd like.

How about parts kits, containing things like braided hose,wiring(spark plug,detail wiring etc.),bolts,valve stems. It would be like ordering a pack/bag of hoses,bolts whatever you need without having to figure out what sizes you will need, like "I'm building a nitrous car" & getting the correct size hoses or bolts or whatever.

Richard... Best braided line in the business that I have seen is from Charlie at Pro Tech. Not trying to be a downer about having a bagged system wth everything you need, i acually think its a great idea. Just not sure if you would find any better braid in the business is all. His is made correct to the real stuff.

In my stash here, I have some of Detail Masters braided line, but after seeing a how-to using both types in, I believe the other magazine, & seeing it used here, I'm planning on getting some of Charlies for my builds. Maybe get Charlie to make the "bagged system"? hhhhhmmmmm.

I have used some of Pro-Tech's stuff and it is great. I would like to see a kit of a '65 Plymouth Satallite that can be built stock with steelies & dog dish hub caps, built as super stock with the 426 engine, slicks, etc., and also as a match racer with and injector engine, roll bar, moon tank, tach, etc. ALL in ONE kit.

TEM's trannies are great (I have 3 or 4), Chris makes them in 3 & 4 speeds & the detail is fantastic, they come the air solonoids, reverse lockout & the shift buttons, you only have to make a shaft/pole to mount the shifters onto, then paint & put together. Chris due to a recurring health problem is running a little behind right now on some parts, also I know a few years ago he was planning on making some highly detailed (like 140 piece) Pro-Mod engines, but I don't know if those are still in his plans (hope so,but not sure). As for his bodies, they also are great, Wayne Stevens makes the bodies then Chris does the molds & the resin.

Everyone has some great ideas or "wants" that would like to see available in aftermarket. I think as far bodies go, between what I do for Chris at TEM and what Flashpoint has released, the market is pretty well covered, especially when you consider the volume that are available and what will be available in months to come. Of course there are all of the talented builders out there creating their own one-off bodies as well. Hood scoops as well are pretty well covered. It's the underneath the body panels that need attention. I know that working with and being friends with Chris for a number of years now, his ideas of what he would like to produce and the time it takes to actually make it happen are worlds apart. At one time his grand plan was to have a customer be able to order a completely aftermarket pro mod, from stem to stern. Not really feasible so you take it one step at a time. I know that he has plenty of irons in the fire as far as detail parts go, but as has already been mentioned, his health as of late has not been the greatest. He is a stubborn old coot and I'm sure he will overcome and get back on track real soon. Some items that are in the works are real slicks (already cast a few sets but is working out all the bugs), multiple wheel sets that will be cast in resin so they will be more affordable than machined wheels but will be up to the builder to make them as realistic as possible, more engine accessories like different blower choices, transmission options ( I can't remember all of the different ones at this time but there were at least three that I recall) and small engine detail parts. I also know that he is still working on at least two new rear end selections and a complete nitrous kit that will include bottles, solenoids, brackets, gauges and line, along with whatever else the kit needs.

Also, so this doesn't sound like a TEM promotional post, I can also say that just today I received a couple of new photo etch sets from Dirtmodeler.com that include a front suspension set with brackets for the front strut mounts as well as motor plates and a complete 4-link rear suspension kit with enough brackets to do two complete suspensions. You just have to come up with your own struts and rod ends as well as rear end center section. Both of these kits were right around $5 or so. They were both designed and created by Clay Kemp so you know they are accurate.

Charlie at Protech definately makes some of the best detail parts and I believe that he has, bar none, the best resin 4 barrell carbs. available. There is an area that we could use more detailed parts. I agree with Dave regarding the single 4 intakes and not enough viable options in kit form to complete that task.

I think if we give it time, and bug enough folks, then what is needed for more detailed and accurate builds will continue to grow.

I'm working on a B&M Quarterstick-style PE shift lever with separate housing/cover and resin interior. The lever can be positioned anywhere within the range of the housing slot. I'm also working on some other drag pieces I'll try to share pics of soon.

I'd like to do some more items in the drag racing market, without stepping on anyone's toes. My specialty is photoetching, so i'd like to try to stick to that. I try not to venture too far into the resin stuff, unless it's something that supports my PE work (like resin wheel rims for the PE centers).

What strikes me off the bat as some things i'd like to do would be some wheel options, and definitely the weld 'scalloped' drag beadlock. I'm certain i could nail them.

Anyway, i like this topic and hope it continues. I'd like to read more drag racing wants, as well as which manufacturers make which products so i'll know what products to focus on, and which i should steer clear of.

My development cycle is only about 2 months from concept to first part in the hands of a customer (very rapid), so the more information and requests i can get, the better.

I use them all the time, and IIRC they have lower prices. Special Shapes is actually K&N Brass, they are just selling brass parts that aren't in the 'metal centers' you see in hobby shops. Only thing i don't like about special shapes is you have to call to order.. they don't have online ordering. But when you buy brass in the hundreds of feet at a time.. it's not too bad to call them every year or two
