W-409 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 This is now finished. Started out as a Glue Bomb. Some engine detailing and black wash for it, and also some detailing on the chassis and interior. Engine is painted orange of course, and details are mostly Scale Dreams' stuff, or scratchbuilt. Body is painted red and it has a bit polishing, but not too much. It could be better, but I like it like that. BMF and rear window is acetate. Nothing special about the final assembly, added some details and kit went together nicely. Full WIP can be found here. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=43717&st=0&p=459690&hl= More pics.
W-409 Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 And still some more pics, thanks for looking. Comments very welcome!
GeeBee Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Very nice build, I built this kit many years ago, bought it at the Ertl store in Dyersville, the bodyshell was bent as a banana when I got it home,
Dominik Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Well done Niko! Like the red with white stripe.
oldscool Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Hey Niko, check my post in your WIP thread. gus
RodneyBad Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Great looking SuperBee. The Engine looks Really Great.
BOSWELL891 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Wonderful job Niko I really like the paint and the engine looks really good too.
MoparManiac318 Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Very nice build Niko!! Great detailing on the engine Awesome looking MOPAR
oldscool Posted August 27, 2011 Posted August 27, 2011 Very nice job and my comment in your WIP thread was not criticising your building skills at all. Even if you follow the directions for a new kit the horn would have been placed there. Excellent rebuild of a glue bomb. gus
W-409 Posted August 28, 2011 Author Posted August 28, 2011 (edited) Thanks for the comments, everyone, really appreciated. Gerald, It's always great to hear what should be done better. Thanks, for the reply on the WIP thread. I usually follow the directions, when I can't say surely where everything needs to be glued. Now it went bit wrong, but next time better... THANKS for the comments!!! Edited August 28, 2011 by W-409
deathskull59 Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 nice dodge i had a dodge super bee once but it was a 69 super bee though. kinda wish i still had it.
W-409 Posted August 29, 2011 Author Posted August 29, 2011 Thanks, Nathan. '69 Super Bee looks good too, but this '70 model is looking very mean.
scalenut Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 sweet job love the engine bay ! ,, question on the battery cable clamps , I assume they are photoetch ?.. I notice they have wings sticking out ,,, can that part be bent around to simulate the the cable clamp section ? or is that how they are meant to be .. I curious , was thinking about picking some up.
bsoder Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 Great looking Bee!...very nice work on the engine detail
Daniel Peterson Posted August 29, 2011 Posted August 29, 2011 I think someone successfully defused a bomb! Well done!
W-409 Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 Thanks for the comments fellas! That battery cable clamps should be like that, and it might be possible to try bending them like that, going around the cable. I must try it. This was just my second time using them, so I'm still learning. I'll try that thing, and let you know, how it looks. But those are great quality anyway, I think... Thanks everyone!
W-409 Posted September 6, 2011 Author Posted September 6, 2011 Thanks! I tried that battery cable-thing, how to make it look more realistic. It turned out Ok, but I can't post picture from it now, because my camera got broken... I can still post older pictures, but can't take new ones anymore. Needs to get a new one and then I'll post picture to you from it. Thanks.
Skydime Posted September 7, 2011 Posted September 7, 2011 This is a beautiful build. I think these cars look severely aggressive and almost evil from the front.
zelkam Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Great looking. The Engine looks Really Great.
CorvairJim Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I have one of these in the box and I'm planning on building it as my second entry in my own CBP: "The Cars Of Rock 'n' Roll And Country Music". It will represent the car from Bruce's "Jungleland" - "Barefoot girl on the hood of a Dodge". I've always envisioned that car as a mid-to-late high school hot rodded '70 Super Bee in Plum Crazy, jacked up in back, with side pipes and "Big 'n' Littles" on Cragar S/S rims. (Shameless promotion: See the CBP in the forums to learn more about it and enter - The more the merrier! )
