Dr. Cranky Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Beautiful work. Those wheels are gorgeous. I think we'll be popping some popcorn and sitting back to enjoy another great model in progress. Take your vitamins and keep it going, John!
BKcustoms Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Looks like this will be another great one! i'll be watching.
John Teresi Posted September 11, 2011 Author Posted September 11, 2011 Thank`s guy`s.......I think the paint job that I put on it will be different and challenging......but,I think it will look good.
crazyjim Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I don't believe I've seen a '49 Merc convertible. This is looking excellent.
John Teresi Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 Hello......I did some modified work on the body....... I opened the doors and trunk........thank`s for looking.
Mooneyzs Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 (edited) John this is going to be one heck of a build buddy. I love the idea of making a convertible.... in my mind it looks like a speedster with how you are going with it. Those rims are just Sweet and totally fit the look you are going for. I love that you have opened the trunk and opened the doors. I can't wait to see this masterpiece come together. I have one of these kits that I am planning on building here soon.... well gotta get that funny finished as well as the FEDn I have going. But I have some plans for a '49 Merc in the near future. What brand are the turned aluminum wheels, they are awesome! I look forward to seeing progress on this. Edited September 12, 2011 by Mooneyzs

Sixx Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 That's wicked John!! Mercury Rising...perfect!!
Dr. Cranky Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Amazing transformation, great foundational work to what promises to be a killer eye-candy machine! The Mercury is RISING indeed!
Mooneyzs Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 John... you are making some great progress. The Trunk looks great and I love the Mercury Rising name for the car. Funny how we name some of our cars. I already have a name picked out for my 49 merc Project
Mark Crowel Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 That look your car has brings back memories of those early '60's Car Craft magazines. I'm glad you kept the stock steering wheel. It preserves a nostalgic element of the model. Clean cutting on those opening features. Great workmanship. Dave Shuklis must be smiling down on that car from model car heaven.
Dominik Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Thats a real cool Merc john. I will watch your work, thats amazing!
zelkam Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 I love creativity, and how we can create everything from styrene. nice project
LAone Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 looking good john. keep it going, got the popcorn and coca cola ready <along with the 3D glasses..
Jantrix Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 John as usual amazing work. I have a observation and suggestion though if you don't mind. Looking at the roundness of the Merc body compared to the speedster tonneau you've created. It's very angular and would look great on a old T-bird or something. But this needs more roundness like the aero humps behind the driver on a vintage Porsche Spyder racing car. Just food for thought.
