Reason I'm asking is a friend's uncle still has his '64 Dodge that he bought NEW! My friend built a Lindberg kit, but was unhappy with the way the paint (testors red enamel spray) turned out, so it's in my purple pond now :D

We just thought if the Johan kit captured the shape better, it could always be bashed with the Lindy for the better detailed components.

I'll ask him for pics of the 1:1 to see exactly what it is he's trying to replicate...

The JoHan kit body is actually much closer to the 1:1 car than the Lindberg. The Lindberg body isn't bad and the chassis, engine, and interior are much better but if you compair both bodies side by side you'll quickly see that Lindberg got the windshield shape wrong (too flat) compaired to the JoHan and 1:1 Dodge. I'll see if I can find my JoHan and post pics later.

JoHan on the left, Lindberg on the right.

Look at the base of the windshield and back of the hood and you'll see what I mean about the amount of curve. If you're able to look at your friends car or your friend looks at this picture you'll know how bad Lindberg missed this.

Not a problem Jeff. I didn't realize how much the Lindberg kit was off until about 10 years ago when I was at a car show looking at a 64 Dodge and then went home and looked at the 2 bodies again. You can also see in the pic that I posted that the front fenders and rear quarters and both just a little bit longer on the JoHan body, I can't say for sure which is more correct there but I'd probably put my money on the JoHan.

The real issue is that the Jo-Han and Lindberg kits depict two different cars. The Jo-Han is a Polara, whereas the Lindberg is a Dart 330. They have completely different roofs. So you need to first find out which model 64 Dodge you need to replicate in order to determine from which kit to work. And if it turns out to be the Jo-Han, you will need both, it's as simple as that. The Jo-Han for the body, chrome, and glass, the Lindberg for everything else.

You are correct, they are different cars

NOPE!!! sorry wrong answer but thanks for playing.

the Lindberg is a Dodge 330 2dr Sedan as seen in this pic:

the Polara is a 2dr Hardtop as seen in this pic:
