Scale-Master Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 I started this back in the 80's. It got shelved before a move and just left in storage. I figured after about 25 years it deserved to be finished. I thought I'd finish it as it was intended to be when I started it. The white paint had been chipped n a couple places, but the fluorescent red was still holding up. But it all had to be stripped. I repainted the body with the same Testors colors as before and was able to keep the red paint on the chassis. The custom made wheels were reusable from when I originally started it, including the Good Year decals. Decals came from a Lindberg Formula Firebird. It was a 1/43rd-ish scale pull-back toy.
Danno Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Sweeeeeet! Nice rebuild! Love those little four-wheeled crotchrockets! I had a lot of fun with a trio of Fieros in the 80's!
Chuck Most Posted September 15, 2011 Posted September 15, 2011 Very cool, and glad to hear I'm not the only guy who likes to rework diecast pullback toys.
gray07 Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Cool build, you dont see many fieros being built any more, plastic or diecast.
Eshaver Posted September 21, 2011 Posted September 21, 2011 Scale , at one time, ( Middle 80's ) there was a 1-1 Pontiac Fiero running the streets that looked almost identical to the model you did . Very nice ! Ed Shaver
