spkgibson Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Made from the 69 Chevelle hood, And 77 Monte Carlo hoods. Let me know what you think. It took me about 4 hours total to finish up.
Dr. Cranky Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 It looks good, and I sure will come in handy for a lot of people.
spkgibson Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 Yeah I was thinking about it, This is the third one of these I have done. I made sure this one has the correct number of vents in it, Basically the 69 AMT SS Is a Malibu. with the SS Hood , And the terrible taillights, I wish I could get someone to make just the original Bezels and Red Clear Taillights , I personally would rather use those with the kit bumper to cut down on the cost. I wonder how many people would actually want this done.
george 53 Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Get a hold of Jeff, Steve. he might be interested in casting it. It IS a nice lookin hood.
spkgibson Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 A little update, This will be sent out to be cast in resin the begining of October, I hope anyone that has wanted to build a 68-69 Malibu will be pleased, I would rather contribute this to the hobby ,Then take the risk of ruining it by painting it, I'll give updates on the process, And reveal the caster soon,
Chuck Most Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Not a huge Chevelle fan myself, but even I can see they'll fill a void for sure. Seems like everybody wants all-new offerings, but there's quite a bit of stuff that's needed to change and improve existing kits. Replacement hoods are right up that alley.
spkgibson Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 Just a little update, This is going to the post office today. Look for it soon .
spkgibson Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 (edited) Steve will this fit the El Camino? Nick Yes it will, You just have to add strips on both sides, And cut off the molded in hinges. to fit the 68 Elcamino kits, They are a direct drop in for the AMT 68-69 Chevelles ,And the 69 El Camino Kits. It's based off the AMT 69 Chevelle , It will fit with alittle mods on the sides for the 68 El Camino. By the way, This is in the hands of the resin caster as we speak. So look for it soon. Thanks's for casting this for us Missing Link. Edited October 6, 2011 by spkgibson
