mackinac359 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 My latest is not a Peterbilt  A Freightliner FLC12064 ! I backdated a 1980s FLC Testors/Italeri built-up to the original Freightliner style. I had fun weathering this one. It really took on a life of its own as one thing lead to another. Thanks for looking! Tim
Guest Anthony Oteri Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 2 piece hard plastic tires! How 1980's. Thankfully Italeri saw the light and made them in rubber. I see a White Freightliner conventional circa 1974 parked all the time about 5 miles from home all the time. Seeing yours reminds me of the actual unit. Good job Tim, even if it's not a Pete!
JdKustomModels Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 outstanding Tim! even tho its not an Oval im toyin around with that tylenol bottle with water/fuel idea
SpreadAxle Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Tim, I love it. Very nice work. This makes idea #2 this week that I've had and got to see what it would look like finished, the other being the long Trailmobile I mentioned yesterday. Incidentally, you wouldn't happen to know what year freightliner dropped the White name would you? Anyway, I love it. Very cool. This style of Freightliner conventional was always a favorite of mine.
Old Albion Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Tim, Great looking truck. I haven't seen any models of the older style Freightliner conventional. This makes this truck pretty unique and that bit more interesting. Good attention to detail Superb!! 8)
mackinac359 Posted May 1, 2007 Author Posted May 1, 2007 Thanks guys! Yeah, this has the Italeri 2 piece tires. If you have a kit with them, they build okay but you really need to sand the tread and seam to get them to look better. The tires on my Freightliner were not sanded. I was going to paint the chassis a different color but the wheels/tires were firmly glued on and I didn't want to mask them off and paint the chassis. Ray, Freightliner dropped the "White" name when they cancelled their marketting agreement with White in 1976. By 1977 the last White-Freightliner had been built. Tim
wild_chld81 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Beautiful work tim. You are by far the best builder I have seen. Keep up the great work. I hope someday i'll build as well as you do. I've got my rig coming on here soon!
pete359driver Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 awesome detail as always tim!!!,after looking at the "flaws", the "i love my truck" tag made me chuckle. great work as always 8)
NorthWest29 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Tim, once again, as always, excellent build. What materials did you use for the grill cover and snaps? When are you going to try one of those "Rock Slingers"?
SpreadAxle Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 after looking at the "flaws", the "i love my truck" tag made me chuckle.
Jairus Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Very nice weathering.... but I would have expected nothing less from one of our favorite staff writers! Way to go Tim.
Casey429 Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Undoubtedly one of the best looking Freightliners they ever built, and this one's no exception. The weathering is excellent, and, is that a ding in the top of the passenger side exhaust? Even if it's just dirt, it still looks real.
