samdiego Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 As consolation for missing the Coronado Historics this year, the weekend was spent at the coffee table with this. The windows and trim are just liquitaped at this point, waiting for clearcoat and final stuff. Nice enough kit for its age. The detail is fading in some areas of the dies though. The drivers door shut line disappears in the middle of the panel.
LAone Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 sweet looking dime sam. i like it alot. i thought it was done already. i have one on the bench and 2 more to play with. it is a nice kit for it's age.
Diesel Gypsy Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Thats time well spent IMHO. Love the colours.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Nice colors, it looks like a very nice model.
walt francis Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Nice Job and is that the new 48 ford in the back ?
samdiego Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) The colors are Tamiya Racing White and Tamiya Orange. The stripes are decal, the parts above the BRE Datsun logo are shaded with a light coat of Tamiya smoke Thanks and no that's a chopped and channeled White Road Boss truck with Playdoh can cycle fenders. Oh, That '48 Ford. Yes, yes it is. Edited October 5, 2011 by samdiego
RodneyBad Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 Datsun is looking good. Cool looking RoadBoss.
Tom Setzer Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I have always liked the 510 and had one that I raced as an Amature in SCCA Sedan Racing in 70 and 71 when I could get enough money together to get to the races. CHEERS! Tom
3men2s Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 I learn to drive in one of those datsuns, which I Had one to race prep like the ones you can still see at the historic races. I live in Florida and love to go to Sebring for the HSR races. This kit I really love to get. You did a great job with this one Do you have pics of the engine bay?
samdiego Posted October 5, 2011 Author Posted October 5, 2011 (edited) I haven't decided on the included vinyl tubing for all of the oil lines. I'd like to run something and the supplied stuff is really stiff and doesn't look like braided line. Wouldn't mind swapping that steering wheel. it's the only thing in the kit that looks cartoony Edited October 5, 2011 by samdiego
Nick Notarangelo Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 everything looks really good but I agree with you on the steering wheel, itdoes need to go.
