Aaronw Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Debated between general and trucks, general won. Did the 1941-46, 47-54 use any engine other than the 235 I-6, in particular the larger 1 ton+ trucks using the same (similar) cab to the pickup. I have a couple of projects using the '41 and '50 Chevy pickup kits to medium duty cabs, but wasn't sure about the engine. Second question I have is the bed, would the pickup bed from the '50 3100 pickup be correct to convert a 55-57 Cameo to a stepside? I ended up with a couple of Cameos and want to build one as a stepside. I know there is a 55-57 stepside kit but since I have a bed from the '50 Chevy, it doesn't make sense to buy another kit if I don't have too. Thanks
lordairgtar Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 The 50 bed is not a direct match. The 55 and up to 58 bed is what you want. I think the chevy used a V8 as well. GMC used Pontiac V8s in their line up in those years. I think!
SoCalCarCulture Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 Chevy trucks ran a 216 cu. in. 6 until '54 then they got the 235.
