John Pol Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Hi all I`m thinking of buying the Photo Shop pro from Coral. But before I buy can anybody tell would it be a good program to do decals. John Pol
Bastardo Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 When it's up to decals, Corel Draw is my weapon of choice I've been told that Adobe Illustrator is even better and easier to use, but I haven't tried it yet.
crazyjim Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I switched to Corel Draw just recently because I couldn't get support from Arts & Letters Express anymore. I've never done decals, but Corel Draw sure is a powerful program.
Art Laski Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I just started using Inkscape. It's open-source (free!) and so far I am pleased with what it can do. It's a vector-based program, so scaling the images doesn't affect the resolution. -Art
Exotics_Builder Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Photopaint, Paint Shop Pro and some others are bitmap based and not as good at doing decals as a vector based tool such as CorelDraw or Adobe Illustrator. I use CorelDraw X5 and will use a tool to trace a bitmap and then adjust it. I also use a color laser printer for decals I produce, rather than a inkjet printer. A word of warning, in case you do not know or read on this or other boards, that making decals is very tedious and may actually require a layering technique like Fred Cady did on his silk screen decals to get best results. Also, as mentioned often, whites and metailics are doable without a lot of special (and more costly) work. Be prepared to invest a lot of time in experimenting and testing your results.
