Psychographic Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I bet if you took the stock roof and chopped to sit as low as the Camaro roof, it wouldn't look 1/100th as good as this. Great ideas followed up with great craftsmanship.
Modellpularn Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Ohh cool Chevelle! The new Camaro top really works with the body, and like many others have said; it does look sleeker. I'll be checking it out!
customsrus Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Got some more paint on this. I went with some more checkered flag design, kinda what I did on the 2 door 94 Impala. Still needs to be wet sanded, some of this will be covered with the next paint step. I used some Tamiya light blue metallic then some clear blue then some clear to top it all off. On to the pictures.
Ryan S. Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Beautiful paint job. How did you do the masking for the checkers? Did you cut the squares while the tape was on the body?
Dr. Cranky Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 Love it . . . wonderful job on those graphics.
customsrus Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 Beautiful paint job. How did you do the masking for the checkers? Did you cut the squares while the tape was on the body? I laid the tape on a plastic sheet drew my lines, then placed the tape on the body and used a new blade to cut the squares.
Lownslow Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 man that roof changes the whole attitude of the car for the better
ItsThePaint! Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 love the tattoo checkers. great style! I'd tip my hat to you... but I don't wear a hat.
rustybill1960 Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 The body work is looking flawless And the paint work is very slick, I like your checker design and I saw a couple of custom street models at last years NNL in Toledo that used the "burning smoke" paint trick, very cool indeed! And, also, one I must try myself. Thank You for sharing Your grandchildren are very lucky to have such a Grandfather! Later Russ

customsrus Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 Made some more progress on this build. I painted the body today. The first thing I did was to mask off the stripes, Then I shot some Testors Diamond dust, then some clear blue and then pulled off all the tape (after it dried DUH!!) and top coated with clear. The pictures dont give the true color of this thing, it looks like the old hot wheels spectrum flame colors. Very cool. I still need to sand and polish this later, but I think the painting is done. Enjoy.
customsrus Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 More pictures. Thanks for looking.
customsrus Posted November 11, 2011 Author Posted November 11, 2011 (edited) Got most of the interior done on this. Need to do alittle fine tuning still. The only modification done wad I moved the door line forward. Theres not a whole lot you can do to this interior its kinda plain.
