SSNova70 Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) Just a truck I am working on. New to the site and pretty new to modelling. Any help with frames and any details would be greatly appreciated. I'd really appreciate it if yall would look at these pictures and basically just critique it i guess, thanks! Dr. Cranky Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 I think you forget to post the picture, Will. Try again, please.
SSNova70 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Yes i know, it is not on purpose however, the photos i have are too big so it would not let me post them. I then tried to use a photobucket to copy the URLs but that didn't not work out too well either. Kind of ashamed to say this right now but I don't really know what to do now.
JamesW Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 You could just post the link to your photobucket album.
SSNova70 Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Thank you! http://s1178.photobucket.com/albums/x362/MrSSNova70/

SSNova70 Posted October 19, 2011 Author Posted October 19, 2011 What do you guys suggest for making the actual frame? Thanks
Jantrix Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 What do you guys suggest for making the actual frame? Thanks Check your local hobby shop for a Evergreen or Plastruct rack and find an appropriate sized rectangular styrene stock.
SSNova70 Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Do you think a Hobby Lobby would carry this? I am not aware of any hobby stores close to me
tooltas Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 old usa 1 monster .i will trad u stock bumber for the one from the usa1s warn 3 pice.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 20, 2011 Posted October 20, 2011 You are making killer progress on this one. It's going to turn out great, I can feel it. Go, man, go.
SSNova70 Posted October 20, 2011 Author Posted October 20, 2011 Thanks Dr. Cranky, however at the moment I am at a standstill because I need to find materials for the frame and until then there's not much to do. On another note, what color would you suggest for a tan interior? thanks And tooltas i was actually planning on using the bumper because i really like the look of it, sorry.
eviltwincustoms Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hobby Lobby doesn't sell it, your best bet is to order directly from Plastruct but they have a minimum order of $20.00. You can always use Ebay to purchase it or fine a Hobby store with a Website that sells the stuff as well. Or I am sure anyone of us would be more than willing to purchase the stuff for you and send it your way for actual charges + shipping.
SSNova70 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 Oh okay thanks for the info eviltwincustoms
SSNova70 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 What would be the best size to purchase? Thanks
JamesW Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Pretty sure 3/16 would be an appropriate size.
eviltwincustoms Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I assume you are working in 1/25th scale? If you have the actual dimensions of a real frame just divide that number by 25 to get your new dimensions. Example 2" x 6" = 0.08" x 0.24" in 1/25th scale. Then just look for the styrene that is close to those dimensions and you will be good to go!
SSNova70 Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 Yup, this model is 1/25, thanks for the advice! my dad has a 90's truck same body style so I can measure that when i get the time
