Lately, I have been finding more time to work on the Shelby and it is really starting to come together. The engine compartment is now complete!

The Shelby is now up on four wheels!

Is this a kit with decals or do you have to buy the decals aftermarket? I'm currently building an original 68 CJ and would love to have this one to go with it.

Oh, sorry about the long answer. I had to answer some time ago, but I got some other things to do and I forgot it... :o

So, there's not kit from that Super Stocker, but of course it would be nice to have one. I found good Cowl Hood from eBay, so that could be used. Decals would be aftermarket then, but I haven't seen any decals for those. I haven't been looking for them so much anyway, but needs to start searching from different decal companies for correct decals.

Someone built one and posted the finished product here on the forum. I stumbled upon it one day and PM'ed the person but he never responded. I just was going through my messages to see who it was and I can't figure out who it was sent to. It shows the message but not who I sent it to. I'll try to find it again tonight if time permits

Dirk and Mike- thanks guys, I am going to get it clear coated today, then after that I will start polishing it, for some reason I can not get the tamyia paint as smooth as MM lacquer when applying it.

Here is a look and the new ride height

Thanks Jonathan! I may be back if this thread is still going later in the year.

Yes they are the kit decals, I did have a little bit of trouble with them, and the one that goes on the bottom part of the rear bumper did not want to go on so its not on it.

When you start working on it, I hope you make it a part of this CBP, I would love to watch you build it, i saw one in person the other night at a club meeting, and wow, its really big in person, and impressive for the most part

Yeah for sure, i will be taking and posting pics of the 1:12 along the way, it's gonna be awhile though cause I have some others in front of it, youre gt500 is looking killer in grabber blue, also see one of you're Eleanor's is primed already, very sweet.

What color are you going to do yours in, now i just need to find the paint so I can get it painted, but i dont have an air brush. I am also trying to get a donor kit for it too, and thats proving somewhat difficult

I love the grabber blue on the 2010's, but on this forum it seems to be the common color, so I'm kinda leaning towards black with either red or satin black stripes like they're offered with. And I hear ya with the air brush, I have paint but no air brush, I think it's my next investment.

I love blue, and I know it looks like grabber blue, but i used a tamyia blue, its very close, I think doing it in black with the red stripes would look killer. I am thinking about going to habor frieght and getting a air brush from them , they are cheap, and that way I can learn how to air brush and not spend a lot of money. Then later on get a better air brush set.

I can play along here. I have a few of these that I started building last year.

First up, 08 GT500KR. Painted Testors Inca Gold with a set of Peggies 23" & lowered.

21.jpg

This one is almost done, just need to put in the windows & taillights.

Next, a 2007 Shelby GT500 painted Testors Blazing Black.

15.jpg

Also with some 23"s on it.

2010 GT painted Testors Da Ja blue.

19.jpg

I have the tires/wheels off the Hertz kit on this one.

Speaking of which, here is the Hertz kit painted Testors Revving Red with a set of 23"s on it.

14.jpg

Last but not least, this one was just recently started, 2010 Convertible with the tires/wheels from the 07 Shelby kit.

Still in the boxes and waiting to be built are these.

So I guess you could say I caught the Late Model Mustang Bug bad :-)

Very nice mustangs you built, I like them all really, did a great job. I have the 06 stang left to built, and then I want to do the convertiable . I will get some pics posted of the 2010 , its finished now.

Sorry it has been a while guys, but I have been busy and really haven't done much with the models lately. But, I will share a little progress.

The Story:

So now that I have the car home and up on jack stands, I am thinking I may have made a mistake. This car needs A LOT! Front end, trunk lid, entire interior, drivetrain, wheels/tires/brakes, hood...............good thing I got it CHEAP. A few phone calls nets me a front clip from a rear-ended 2010GT, and it is even in white, just like the lump in my garage. Stopping to pick it up and BSing with the yard owner, I happen to see a V6 model sitting there, all smashed in on the front end. I ask about the wingless trunk lid and he throws it in for a mere 6-pack of beer! SOLD! I love yard days like these.

Work has been a little slow, so daydreaming has been a constant of mine, and much to the companies unknown chagrin, paper and pencil have met a lot on company time....all in the name of MACH1. I managed to get the front end test-fit and adjusted these last few nights, even to the point of making some headway on my grill/chin spoiler treatment. Gotta love cold beverages and easy-living evenings.

The model:

Not too much for this update, as I have been getting a lot of the body mods/engine bay/inner fender well work done so that you all can see what it takes to get these to sit realistically low. That is forthcoming when I finish it up. I did get the front grill area opened up, and the chin spoiler started. The chin spoiler is just the deck spoiler flipped and filled. I will have it completely filled and shaped by the end of the week, and will show it completed later on in the build. I filled in the trunk spoiler holes and the fake gas cap hole as the truck will have to have new ones drilled and I will not be using the fake cap.

034-9.jpg, 037-5.jpg, 025-10.jpg

More to come as time allows. These are in-progress pics, so none of them show the finished bodywork. That will come later.

And I see some nice work has been added to the collection since I have been away!

The story:

Sitting on a milk crate consuming Killians' Irish Red one night, it occurred to me that the hood was WAY too plain for this car. Hmmm, I have to make a call. Next morning, the phone at DoubleD Motorsports rings and Dave himself answers. After a brief conversation, he tells me he has just what I need and will get it heading my way. Man, the next week at work can't go by fast enough! Little by little, pieces of the car are coming in and going on for test-fit. Progress is slow, but that is the rub of working life.

The model:

Thanks to DoubleD, I got a hold of a 1969 Mach1 hood scoop and base plate. This will work wonders for my project. I got it test-fit, and the hole in the hood cut for it.

031-8.jpg, 035-7.jpg

Now, making the baseplate work and direct air like it would on the 2003-04 Mach1s is my next challenge.
