Dirkpitt289 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I love the look of the 2003 Mach I's. This is going to be great

I haven't dropped off the earth, though I have been uber busy, but y'all are on my mind, hope you've been doing well (and some KILLER new projects here!)...heck,I haven't even been logging into my own board lately,LOL! Just a quick hello, then gotta dash away again for a bit,LOL! Bullitt is dusty, but I'll get on it soon
martinfan5 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Well look who the cat dragged back in , nice to see you are still around Steve
Devilsnake98 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) It had been mentioned before, in regards to the new cobra jet super stocker. W-409 and dirk- I just found a set of the 2008 mustang cobra jet decals someone is printing on the evil bay. They look very nice, looks like all graphics are there, they were $9 for the sheet and I wasn't sure how many there was, so I picked them up, I will post pics when I get them, will be hoping to use the bullit kit as a body and interior donor, then the 07 gt500 as a chassis and engine donor, also picked these up for dirt cheap. Then to find the right wheel and tire combo to complete the cobra jet look. Edited January 27, 2012 by Devilsnake98
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Outstanding. I just sent you a PM pryor to seeing this. I look forward to seeing what they look like. I saw a resin hood on EvilBay that I thought would also work for this build. I'll see if I can find it. This could be just the thing to get me to build a newer mustang sooner rather then later. Olskoolrodder Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Well look who the cat dragged back in , nice to see you are still around Steve Yeah, still around, but just barely,LOL! Maybe like a ghost
whale392 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Good to see you again, Stephen. Work and life have kept me away for a while too. Good to see you again my friend.
Olskoolrodder Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 You too,my friend! I was wondering about you too
RDean58 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 A small update. Got the Gold one done, final pics have been posted in Under Glass. The 2010 GT is a few parts away from being complete, and the 2010 convertible is well on it's way to being done as well. Wow, completes in the first quarter of 2012, I'm on a roll
Olskoolrodder Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Sweet!!! I'll go look at it now (why no pics here?)
whale392 Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 What, we both go away for a while? I will hopefully have more soon, as the modifications to the front inner fender aprons are almost complete. What a job if you want these to sit as low as the real cars can.
Chuck Most Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Well, I'm going to need to get back on my '10 Bullit buildup pretty soon, before it becomes a candidate for the 'Back on the Bench' CB. The worst part of the whole build appears like it will be the whole process of lowering the ride height.
martinfan5 Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 Its not as bad as it may seem to lower it
RDean58 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Update on the 2010 GT, just a few other pieces to put on. Painted with Testors "Da Ja" Blue and wetlook clear. Tires/Wheels from 2006 Hertz Shelby kit with 2010 GT wheel cap decals. Just need the strut brace and decals plus a little bit of cleanup painting for the engine compartment.
RDean58 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Update on the 2010 Convertible. Painted with Tamiya maroon, dash instrument decals were taken from the 10 GT Glue kit. Wheels/Tires are from 2007 Shelby GT500 kit. Needs just a bit of cleanup around the black and final assemby. That's all I got so far, I'm hoping to get these done by early next week.
whale392 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Lowering the 2010 Mustang offerings (save the snap convertible) to a more stock ride height isn't too bad. Going any lower than stock or up in rim size with a lower-than-stock ride height and these kits become a bear to lower. The 2010 Snap convertible requires just a tire change (and rims modified to accept aftermarket tires) and an axle hole adjustment to get them down to eating pavement.
whale392 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Story: What is with this beer and milk crate thing? Why is it that I just can't help sitting and drinking, staring at the shell of my dream? And why is it that no matter how many parts I find, I always seem to need more? And why am I still stuck working in Focus Engine Dress? Alright, enough reflection. I know this thing needs some interior love, as it was pretty much gutted by the lowlifes who stole it. Looking over Ebay and Craigslist really wasn't showing too much that I was interested in. I don't really want stock, but I don't want to go aftermarket either (trying to somewhat keep with the Ford parts thing you know). So, one day when I was supposed to be working on some belt tensioner, I had Craigslist up on the computer. Switching back and forth from work to that kept me out of most of the trouble I was asking for, and it suddenly proved fruitful! A set of front/rear seats from a 2010 GT500 popped up for $150.00, and were nearby in Sterling Heights. After talking to the gentleman (on my lunch break of course) we agreed to meet up after I got off work. When I pulled up, he had them sitting out in the drive, trying to get them cleaned up a little. Somewhat dirty but overall in good shape, I decided they would work. After a beverage or two and some cash changing hands, I now had a good base for what I wanted, and on the cheap too! Getting them home and mocked up, I liked them but they just weren't quite what I was after. Ok, time to call TMI. Working out a stock seat cover exchange (and a few bucks to boot) netted me what I was looking for. Our conversation led to a Black Leather/Cloth set-up with the 1970 'Blood Stripe' Red horizontal bar, and once in the car I knew we had a winner! The build: I took the seats from a Revell 2010 GT500 and detail-painted them in the 1970 scheme. What do you all think? Good look or am I the only one who thinks so? , I just have them sitting in the tub for final fitment check. The tub will be various shades/sheens of Black/Titanium.
Olskoolrodder Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 (edited) Interior (and the two builds above it) looking great,my friend(s),really nice! IDK why...since I haven't fiddled with it for WELL over a month (not just my Bullitt, but the bench and the hobby in general...),but I picked up another '10 ragtop snapper and '10 GT500 today. Hmmm.....now what could anyone be wanting to do with those two kits? Edited February 6, 2012 by Olskoolrodder
Dirkpitt289 Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 All these great builds are starting to give me the itch to build a newer Mustang/ Shelby. Hummmmmmm
martinfan5 Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Bradley, very nice looking interior, cant wait to see more Steve, hmm I have no idea what you could do wtih those two kits I still have one more stang to build, and I am thinking about getting the GT-H version, have yet to do that one really unless its like the bullitt kit. I have a plan for the GT-H already I found the perfect donar kit on ebay to use for turning the convert in to a full build, but didnt get it
martinfan5 Posted February 7, 2012 Author Posted February 7, 2012 Steve, it wasthe 2010 GT, and it was missing the body I think, so it made a good one to use with the convertible kit.
Devilsnake98 Posted February 10, 2012 Posted February 10, 2012 Just like to throw in another Mustang project I've gotten into. We'll just say it started with this. 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet decal sheet I found on evilbay just brousing around. So I had to get a kit (in this case 2 kits) to start the project. The kits are the 08 Bullitt, and the 07 GT500. I will be using the body from the Bullitt, with the rear bumper from the GT500, rear 1/4 window vents from an old 65 2+2 kit, a boss 429 hood scoop, and will be modifying the front bumper. I have the rear bumper on, the vents in, the hood scoop on, and the front bumper mods started. Then have started on some of the parts unique to the cobra jet. The full length headers and dumps, the ford racing ignition coil covers on the valve covers, the stereo delete and gauge cluster on the top of the dash, and the wheel and tire combo. The rear tires are from an old nascar kit, and will be using the goodyear eagle decals on them as well.
