Olskoolrodder Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) Steve .... we don't need to know when ya poot .... hehe 1) Hey,farts are funny,Eddie Murphey made MILLIONS with the farts in the Nutty Professor movies, and 2) Pretty much all the time (when I do) when i did my '07 GT500 i used some C-pillar scoops from PSF hobbies but they were a little rough. Yep,yep, that's the guy,PSF Hobbies Sent me some free side scoops after a delay on the hood Edited November 23, 2011 by Olskoolrodder

Your build is looking great so far. I like how you've incorporated the body color into the premium seat inserts Tks Martin, yeas I already have more mustang kits already in my hands and ready to be destroyed : Shelby GT500KR SALEEN S281 MUSTANG SPEEDSTER Shelby Cobra 427 S/C 64 1/2 Mustang Convertible Shelby GR-350R And I already have many other no mustang related kits, I have 26 in total so I either learn or...... learn . Actually believe it or not, when I started looking for reference pictures for the mustang, I discovered that they can be customized big time and being as impulsive as I am, I sold my 2006 Charger and bought a 2008 Base mustang a week ago to customize it..... So that one is going to be a real life built that I will be doing along with the modeling . Things that I have already on order for it: GT Wing GT500 style hood scoop GT style fog lights and grill Side Window air covers Rear Blackout Panel I will either Carbon Fiber Wrap the hood and the hood scoop or install 8" stripes. A few other things here and there. I don't know if that stills qualifies for this thread but here it is how it stands right now. I might post the picture after I install all that aftermarket stuff in case you guys want to see the change.... Dont mind the ugly me in the picture . Edited November 24, 2011 by miguelitochamoy
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Nice looking stang there, well you are luck as there are a lot off different mustang community build threads on this forum. I dont mind but just to be on the safe side, there is a thread in general topics that has a thread for real cars that we have, I would post pics of it when you get it done, I would like to see it. Now on a side not, you got rid of your charger for the mustang , man that makes me sad, I love the chargers, well not so much the newer ones , what made want to get git rid of it?.
miguelitochamoy Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 you are right, the thread could get out of topic, I will keep the real stang mods in the general forum. And the charger was a 2006 with 75,000 miles on it, I got a good deal in the mustang which is a 2008 with 42,000 miles. I bought the mustang and still have $2,000 left from the sale of the charger. It was a good deal so I jumped into it.
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Thats not a bad deal, newer car with less miles, I love chargers, how did you like the charger?. Since you have a mustang, can take some pics of the engine, I have been trying to find pics of where and how the spark plug wires run and where they go.
Rick Schmidt Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Nice ride Miguel! Only part that makes me sad is ya puttin the spoiler on the Spoiler Delete Lid ..... but oh well I'll get over it lol I agree with Jonathan I sure wanna see it when done
Rick Schmidt Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Jonathan Miguels is a 4.0 6 cyl ... won't do us no good on the 4.6s in our kits
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Oh yea, I didnt even think about that when asking him, so miguel dont worry about taking pics , dont mind me guys , ive been a little spacey lately
Olskoolrodder Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Miguel, you already knew I love your build too,as I was watching up there as well, glad to have you here too GOOD looking Mustang,my friend,I'm looking forward to seeing it when modded too! Mine's (1:1) a '94 GT ragtop (see my avatar)...ANY year Mustang is awesome (I even love the MPG-packaged Mustang II from the 70's ). On the Charger vs Mustang subject,my Dad and I ALWAYS disagree on that one,LOL! (Now,I love the Hemi Chargers of the last several years as well),he's all in the Charger an wouldn't buy a new Mustang for half the price (coming from a man whose owner several, including TWO bought new in '88 ),and while I like em,I'd NEVER pick a Charger over a 'Stang (V6 vs V6 and GTvs Hemi). NICE V6 car you got there,Brother,LOVE it
Olskoolrodder Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I wanted the paint to be a bit darker than the can's cap,so I shot some Duplicolor Unisversal Black over the Tamiya primer first,in several lite coats,wet-sanding in between, then shot the green over that, followed by several coats of clear (all wet sanded between coats). But first,I had to find out how the green would react shot over a color coat (black),so I grabbed the hood from the spare body that I first tested this paint on (a '07 GT500 body),and shot it... As it turned out pretty nice,I started shootingthe body, and here's what came of it... Wait for it....
Olskoolrodder Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 I decided that since this wasn't a bone-stock Bullitt from the get-go,and since I really like that blacked-out back panel between the tail lights (found on Premium equipped Mustangs, both V6 and GT's after '07,I think),I masked that off (as well as the cowl panel and around the mirror housings) before I shot the green. I can't resist a mock-up,so here's a few shots mocked up,with the GT500 hood on it... More to come
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 I would love the charger a lot more if it was a two door, for with the mustangs, I like mustangs but now all of them, I have been liking the new body style of the mustang since it came in 06.
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) thats looking real good, nice and shiny, I like shiny, ( wish I could get the mirror finish on my builds). The shade you got looks almost like a British racing green Edited November 24, 2011 by martinfan5
miguelitochamoy Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 (edited) Yeah Sorry as it was already pointed out mine is a V6... But I will dress it as a V8 when finished..... what a poser!!!!! . Oh well I guess I don't really need the extra power just the look LOL . Wow that paint job looks kick-butt. I know who am I going to be learning from . Well the Charger was a really really comfortable ride and very quiet, like cruising kind of ride. It was a V6 also, I don't buy high powered cars since I crashed my corvette with some Cops back in Alabama when I was racing them.... The little bastards didn't like that I was winning so they cut me off so I ended up touching the right side rear end while turning and off we went, they spin clockwise and I spin the opposite direction. Ohh memories, well the moral of the story.... if you can't handle the power or you can resist the temptation... don't get it. So since then I just get the slow version of the cars I like, hence my v6 choices..... But I have to have the look...... Poser!!!!!...................... Well sorry you had to read that.... Just sharing a little of me.... Edited November 24, 2011 by miguelitochamoy
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Well I would say you have a good reason to get the lesser powered version of cars. Its ok to go a little off topic in here, I wont mind , and for the most part even the off topic talk in here is still about mustangs so its ok.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks guys,I'm pretty happywith the way it came out (better than usual for me,LOL! AND shot outside on the porch, the last several coats well up in the evening and 38-40 degrees ). Miguel, nothing wrong what-so-ever with getting a V6 version of either car. That 4.0L V6 in your present Mustang is only 5 HP less than the factory rating of my 5.0L back in 1994 (mine's not exactly stock though, whether it looks it or not ),so it isn't too shabby. I (now) live only 7-8 miles from Bristol Motor Speedway (of Nascar fame),and there sligtly uphill 1/4 mile Dragway (of NHRA fame),and from Sprin until Fall they run stret cars Thursdays and some weeknds,I get my fix mostly there...though it is hard to resist a good 1st-3rd gear fish-tailing-burnout on occasion (she said these tires have to be worn out before I can look into new 18" tires and Bullitt wheels ). I dunno if I'll be working on anything tomorrow...we only have one place to go visit, but it's 1.5 hours away right next to the old house (my Grandparents on Dad's side),as everyone will be there, but that's still 3 hours just travel time, plus eating\visit time (not counting an obligatory trip up the hill to go through some stuff in my old shed). I wish all of you all a great and safe Turkey Day tomorrow if I don't "see" you here before (well...I'm in VA,so it is tomorrowhere )
whale392 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Paint looks good Stephen. You will have to modify the GT500 Grill (or make your own) to fit the hood with the stock GT nose.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks,Bradley, and thanks for the tip,I didn't know that . Actually,I won't be using the hood on this one (MAYBE),it was a spare hood from a spare body that I used for paint compatibilty purposes...unless of course,I ruin that resin hood stripping it,LOL!
martinfan5 Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 I thought you were going to use the resin hood on this build
Olskoolrodder Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 I am,I just haven't had chance to strip and redo it yet. That GT500 hood (and it's body which I used for paint compatibility checking purposes) was used as a test mule to check a darker base coat under this green
martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Well that explains why then , are you going to strip the body as well?. I have two stang kits on their way to me, would of been three but got out bidded at the last 30 second
