Chuck Most Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Well, dug out a long-forgotten project earlier today... or was that late yesterday...? Whatever. Here it is- This is a 1932 Datsun roadster. The body is a Revell Germany BWW 2/15 Dixi, which was produced by BMW in Germany under licence to Austin... it was basically a duplicate of the Austin 7, which was sort of like England's Model T Ford. But here's the thing... the design was also copied and produced, illegally, by Datsun in Japan. Since I had the Fujimi Parts Pack Nissan S20 DOHC inline six, I used that for power. The frame is scratchbuilt, as are the floor pan and interior bulkheads. The steering wheel and now non-existant Racing Mate decals also came from that parts pack. I wasn't happy with the paint on this, and when I got to looking, the passenger's side door (left in this case as the car will be RHD). So I stripped it and redid both doors. While I was at it, I also made up a new floor and drivetrain bulge, and a new dashboard. I'm thinking I will run a track nose off a Revell Midget up front, but nothing is carved in stone. Should have some updated pics soon.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Chuck, I like it. Great details already on here and also fabulous weathering. LONG LIVE RUST!
Nick Winter Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Is it possible for a build to stall more than once? Nick
Chuck Most Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Is it possible for a build to stall more than once? Nick Of course! That Datsun above has stalled maybe five or six times.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 7, 2012 Posted February 7, 2012 Which is the beauty of having an organized system of putting WIPs back in their boxes and mark them so you can always spot them at a glance.

Chuck Most Posted February 9, 2012 Posted February 9, 2012 Nice one Chuck.I like the tiny windshield.Whats the muffler made of?Thats cool too. I think that came from an AMT Silhouette, the rear pipes and cap are from a '64 Marauder.

Nick Winter Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Thanks Guys, have a few more photo's of today's progress, didn't get a lot done had to do some stuff on my mom's '93 Buick (Plug's, Plug Wires and a Fuel Filter) so I was a bit busy, anyway, made some pulley's, made a fan belt from a old elastic, added a Cast metal Alternator bracket and parts box Alternator, also painted up some more stuff. Still lots to modify, adjust, touch up and much more. Nick
Nick Winter Posted June 1, 2012 Posted June 1, 2012 Okay, now were rolling hot on this one. First PE fan. Tight Fit. Nick
Greg Pugh Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 Now that the Chevelle is finally done, I can get back to the T-bird. I finished up the engine this afternoon. It's plumbed and wired and ready to go in.
Greg Pugh Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I really thought that this Community Build would be way more popular than this! Anyway, here's where I'm at with the grille/bumper. I decided to separate it. Easier to detail that way. I'll be sending the bumper in for plating this next week or so.
