I think that was only ever a dream...

Now that Ed Sexton's back at Revell, maybe it'll happen there. He was at MRC, Academy's importer, when the kit was announced. I think Bob Johnson was tapped to design this kit - he was also supposed to do the ill-fated Accurate Miniatures 289 Cobras - but he's now retired, so if it happens, somebody else will have to pick up the development, or start all over. I think Academy did a slot-car Cobra Daytona way back in their infancy (I have a catalog with one in it, but I've never actually seen one), so maybe that was the impetus of this project?

Wasn't Moebius supposed to announce a new, never before seen in plastic automobile kit? I sure hope Art wasn't talking about the Hudson convertable as that kit...

I would have expected Moebius' 55 Chrysler to make an appearance. Especially since they had a rapid-prototype 3D printed one there last year.

No, not yet. They're still tweaking it, it's not ready for tooling yet.

Depite many rumors, that revell had test shots, there was no mention of an Mustang LX Coupe. I had also heard rumors of another 57 chevy from Revell. I love the fact that they did a 62 vette based on the 58-59 pro-modeler tooling. That and the other new tools should keep me busy

I'm guessing that with the shelby's and GT just now hitting the market they wanted to keep the excitement level up for those. Annoucing other versions now might cause people to pass up on these. I bet we see other versions in the summer announcements.

Hopefully..it's too bad, though, that the Shelbys and GT kits are last years versions. :(

Sounds like the time is right for another company to look into the Daytona Coupe. It would be a welcome addition.
