57peppershaker Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 I've got an AMT Lil Red Express truck, which I planned to build with a Hemi. Is there another kit or a conversion availible to change the bed from a stepside to a fleetside ? I saw a 1;1 in a Mopar mag & it looked fanstastic.
Casey Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 No short sweptline bed is available in kit form, but you can buy a top quality resin bed and related parts from: www.modelhaus.com Click this link, Mike --> http://modelhaus.com/index.php?y=&c=4247&pt=&part=1&Submit=Search
57peppershaker Posted October 22, 2011 Author Posted October 22, 2011 Thanks Casey, sounds dumb but what year is a lil red express ?
Nick Winter Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 (edited) '78 or '79, but '79's have a diffrent hood, cowl and grille. Nick Edited October 24, 2011 by Nick Winter
57peppershaker Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 78's good ! Would a Dodge Hemi, from the Revell Charger fit in there ?
mikemodeler Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I haven't tried it but would seem to think that there is enough room under that hood to fit it in.
RodneyBad Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I haven't tried it but would seem to think that there is enough room under that hood to fit it in. Plenty of room for a Hemi. Not a Hemi but shows the Extra room.
whale392 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Be advised, the Resin bed from the Modelhaus is in SE trim, which means it has the chrome stripe along the lower beltline and the AdventurerSE emblems cast on. It is a GREAT piece (I have one to do just the same conversion) and worth the money. A little thick in the floor and wheel-well areas, but blemish free and very nice! You will have to make the motor mounts, but the Hemi/440/383 from any of the Revell kit will fit nicely between the fenderwells! As a side note, I decided to leave the AdventurerSE chrome stripe and emblem on mine, and add the chrome to my 78 LRE cab, converting it to the SE trim level and building it that way!
george 53 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 That engine compartment will fit a Chrysler Turbine Car motor!
mikemodeler Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Plenty of room for a Hemi. Not a Hemi but shows the Extra room. Is it just me or does the front end on this look like it is "off"? That grille doesn't seem to be square to the radiator support or the fenders. Nice job on this, would like to see the whole truck!

Yaaa, it is noticable now that it is done and it was done a long time ago Somewhere around 1994. Thanks, Here is a link to it UnderGlass, http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=23234&hl=dodge&fromsearch=1
