Dr. Cranky Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 (edited) All right, folks, I couldn't remember if I had shared the progress on this one with you before, but the time has come to get this one done. John's "El General" build really did a number on me, so I'm fully charged. The other thing that happened was that I had a dream that Doctor Cranky had started his own circus (hey, why not? Everyone seems to have one these days!) and I've wanted to build a new series of hot/rat rods that would be thematic in relation to some of my building interests, including Egypt, Steampunk, Tiki, etc . . . Of course, Harry P. was kind enough to give me a visual clue, which I will share with you: Thank you, Maestro Harry. So hold on to your hats and britches, ladies and gentlemen, this one might do me in! Of course, it also helps a build when the perfect name pops into your head! Edited October 31, 2011 by Dr. Cranky
SuperStockAndy Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Virgil how much did you drink tonight?
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Here we go, starting off with the 34 Ford and some modifications, including a radical chop! What's a Cranky build without going over the top, including lots of new bling from WARHAMMER "TOMB KINGS" delicious parts . . . This one crawled out of a pyramid ready to sting you in the . . . EYE? LOL! I don't drink, ask Harry, I am as sober as can be . . . then again, I am very high on STYRENE!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 I think CLEOPATRA would have loved to drive around in this one. I think: On the rolling chassis . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 EYEGORE tells me to think of EGYPT (or) listen to THE BANGLES' song: "Walk Like an Egyptian"! This one has all the details on board already . . . next up is primer, then paint, then assembly . . . THEN THE MADHOUSE!
John Teresi Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Dr........Oh Ya.......I remember this one......you have no idea how much I liked this build when I first saw it......man,you got to finish this one.......this will rock some peoples head`s......."Git `R Done".......can`t wait to see this.

Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Yeah, I remember posting this one a while back. Thanks, John, your build really got me fired up, so yeah, this one is getting done before Thanksgiving rolls around. Besides, it's a perfect Halloween build . . . It's off to get primered tomorrow . . . and then the painting and detailing begins . . .Derrick, I think you might be right about the stoggies, maybe it's the tobacco that's making me a bit loopy.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 By the way, I am already lining up some colors that I think say EGYPT when I think of them: turquoise, gold, bronze, lime green . . . etc . . . If you think of other colors, this is a great time to chime them in. THANK YOU!
GrandpaMcGurk Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Glad to see I'm not the only one doing "strange builds". Great fun, huh Doc?

jaymcminn Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 Pretty wild. The headlight mounts are a great idea!
Chuck Most Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 :lol:Sphinxter.... Sorry, must have a little Beavis and Butthead fever today!
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Chuck, that's the idea, to make someone laugh at first and then cry when they get stung by this Scorpion machine! Getting the parts primered, a few at a time. This build has a whole bunch of small parts, go figure! Stay tuned in for more.
Foxer Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 My mother said I couldn't watch ANY more of your builds after she strolled by and caught THIS one on the screen. My mother is 92.
Dominik Posted October 29, 2011 Posted October 29, 2011 oh man...what stuff do you take, Doc? I must get the same!!! Crazy....absolute crazy build...how did you get such an idea?!?
Dr. Cranky Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 LOL, Dominik, at night I sleep with my ears turned to the stars and I think the aliens are speaking to me! I've always been a big fan of Egyptian artifacts, etc . . . Stay tuned in for progress. I got all the parts primered and they are drying, then begins the meticulous process of painting . . . you know how that goes . . . My mother said I couldn't watch ANY more of your builds after she strolled by and caught THIS one on the screen. My mother is 92. Does your mother work for THAT OTHER magazine? LOL!
