martinfan5 Posted November 3, 2011 Posted November 3, 2011 Just picked this up, and like I need another build right now , any ways I am going to do this one stock for the most part, but I am not sure yet. I am going to finish some other builds before I start this so I have some time to think what I want to do with it.
martinfan5 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 I primed the body, and getting it painted
Dr. Cranky Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 What a gorgeous model. I'm sure it will build up super nice.
martinfan5 Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 (edited) The body is painted, have not yet cleared it yet. Dr. I agree with you and almost all Ferrari's are gorgeou Edit- I could of swore I posted a pic of the painted body, guess not Edited November 13, 2011 by martinfan5
robertw Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Just finished this kit and it goes together great. The only problem that I had was that the one piece window glass left gaps between the glass and the A pillars. I also found the photo etch was difficult to bend to fit into the side vents, I ended up using metal mesh instead. A little detailing with wire will also make the curbside engine bay pop. I look forward to seeing yours finished. rob
martinfan5 Posted November 13, 2011 Author Posted November 13, 2011 Thanks for the tips, i was looking at pics of the engine bay I could not see any engine wiring at all, I was thinking about getting Revells F 430 kit to use the engine but not sure if I want to do that.
surfjunke Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 Nice start. Great paint, even without the clear. The 430 is a great looking car, as are most Ferraris.
martinfan5 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 I had a little issues with the paint, so I decided strip and start over again, so it is repainted, going to clear coat it in the next day. Also got a little bit of work done on the chassis.
martinfan5 Posted November 16, 2011 Author Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) Made a rear spoiler for it, still have work to do on it. Edited November 16, 2011 by martinfan5

robertw Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Thanks for the tips, i was looking at pics of the engine bay I could not see any engine wiring at all, I was thinking about getting Revells F 430 kit to use the engine but not sure if I want to do that. I'd recommend you stick with the Fujimi engine since all of these pieces fit together so well to create the engine bay walls. Once you're finished it is barely noticeable that it's not a full motor. References that I looked at also show that the bottom part of the glass hatch appears to be tinted, I used Tamiya Smoke. This also helps to disguise the fact that the muffler is only half there. For wiring I added plug wires which in the end weren't visible and the, what appears to be a fuel line coming in from the engine bay wall and a few other wires. There are really not that many wires visible in the engine bay. I had two of the Revell 430's and both had warped rear hatches. The only piece that I thought was better in the Revell kit were the seats which have the stallion on each seat which is missing from the Fujimi seats. The Fujimi also have wheels that are more authentic looking, chrome but not the typical shiny chrome like the Revell ones. In the end what tipped the balance in the favour of theFujimi kit were the front intakes which are separate pieces which made them much easier to paint and to cut the ends out of to use the p/e grills. Good luck on your build. rob
martinfan5 Posted November 17, 2011 Author Posted November 17, 2011 Rob, thank you for the very much for good info, I passed on the idea on the using revells engine after I started building the fujimi kit, I agree about the brakes, they are so much easier to paint then revells brakes. I got the kit with the P/E set so really the only painted I really had to do was the caliper. I did notice that about the seats that they are not that nice, but its something that wont bother me.
martinfan5 Posted November 22, 2011 Author Posted November 22, 2011 Made a little bit more progress on this one, I polished the body, still need to get better and doing the wetsanding and polishing. I still need to clean it up. The interior is done for the most part.
martinfan5 Posted November 23, 2011 Author Posted November 23, 2011 Here is a mock up of where I am at so far, I painted the wheels satin black, after I took the photo I did some touch up painting .
martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Author Posted November 26, 2011 Thanks , well I am stripping the body , I dont know this happened, but I went to finish it today and notice that there was I think a glue glob about the size of a pea on the top of the right fender. Now I have no idea how it got there , as I have not had glue out or near this build for the last few days, and it wasnt there yesterday, so i am a little confused
martinfan5 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Here is the body after repainting it, I am going to give it one more wet coat then clear coat it
martinfan5 Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 (edited) I will get a pic of the engine soon, it only has the top part of the engine anyways Edit- the wheels came today , now I just need to decide what set I am going to use Edited December 16, 2011 by martinfan5
