SteelyEd Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 This is my first race car, have the engine completed with all hoses and wires. Please let me know if I have it correct, been following everyone's builds and have been inspired to build one. Maybe some day I'll be as good as you guys. Thanks for looking. Ed [
Mooneyzs Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Ed... You are off to a great start. The engine is looking nice with the deatil to the carbs, linkages and plug wire. Nice job!
SteelyEd Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Here are some shots with the fuel, oil, and NOS lines installed..
SteelyEd Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks man, I've following your builds and you are doing a fantastic job. Your attention to detail is just mine blowing. Actually your build is what inspired me to build a drag car.
Mooneyzs Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Oh wow check out the NOS lines and the blanket around the transmission... that is looking awesome!!. Thanks for the compliments on my builds. My biggest piece of advice for you is to have lots of patience and take your time. I look forward to seeing this drag car come to life. You are off to a great start. Can't wait to see what else you have in store for us.
tyrone Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 the engine looks really good, the plumbing is nice and neat too, are you sure this is your first racecar build ??? lol....smh...
W-409 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Wow! Great job with that engine. Details look very good, and realistic too. And it's interesting to see, what's coming next. Keep this going, I'll be watching this one.
SteelyEd Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks guys, it's all your builds that have me inspired to do this one. And yes this is my first race car.
gasser59 Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 This build is progressing very nicely and all we've seen is the engine. I'll be keeping an eye on this. Really liking it.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 Amazing engine. Great wiring, you must have nerves of steel!
Sixx Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 That's not yer first one man!! LOL!!!! I wish I could my carb links to look that good!! Awesome job Ed!
Beavis Posted November 8, 2011 Posted November 8, 2011 i love the blue, great detailing!!! were'd those vicious looking carbs come from?
SteelyEd Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 Thanks All, and yes this my first race car, not my first engine to detail though. The carbs are from Compition Resins CRC-189. They cam e with a welded tunnel but I liked the kit supplied one better.
futurattraction Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 That's looking great, Ed! If you wouldn't have volunteered it, I'd swear this wasn't your first engine detailing experience. Keep up the fantastic work!
Beavis Posted November 10, 2011 Posted November 10, 2011 more pictures lol . i'd love to see the rest of the project !
SteelyEd Posted November 20, 2011 Author Posted November 20, 2011 Hey Guys! With work and life, bench time is at a premium! Able to get a little work on it today, will have photos later. I did some research on the white mark on the rear tires about how they help visualize wheel spin. My question is does it relate to the valve stem location? Your held and input is greatly appreciated.
rustybill1960 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Uh Oh! Looks like We got Us another one People!! Super start going there Ed! Looks to be another follower too! It is an inspiration to watch fellow plastic junkies preform on these kits!! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
SteelyEd Posted December 4, 2011 Author Posted December 4, 2011 Finally got some bench time in and made some progress on this build... Engine is complete other than putting the coil on. Added NOS lines and fittings, scratch made cut-off valves. Got the wheels done, used kit supplied decals and lettering from “ Shabo”, pictures make them look kind of funky but in real light they are OK. Thanks for looking, sorry about the slow progress, but with work and everyday real life events bench time is at a premium.
W-409 Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 Wow, great job with that detailing. It looks like 1:1 car to me, very nice. Pro Sportsman Bel Airs are not my absolute favorites in this scale, but when they are built as nicely as this, they are really amazing.
jay8allday Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 a man this is nice way better then mines im building the same thing ran into a problem with the front left frame rail
plastikfreek Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 Love the detailing you have done with the motor....Looks really nice........
