SteelyEd Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Thanks Guys! After looking at all your builds, I am inspired to do my best with this. Now if I only could get more bench time.........
geetee66 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 nice detail on the engine! i wish i'd seen yours before i'd built mine. I have little or no idea about how to install lines etc. and i really could've done with some clues. I am impressed with your attention to detail and looking forward to seeing more progress photos. (check out my 55 shoebox build here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50753 )
SteelyEd Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Got some progress made on this kit, got the wheels on and radiator in, now I can get to the roll cage, this looks like a bear with all the different pieces and parts. Thanks for looking and the patience with this slow build. I only work on it when I fell creative and real life doesn’t get in the way.
W-409 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Great job with it so far. Those rear tires look pretty good to me. Nice color on the frame-are you going to paint the body with that color too? Nice work all over. I've been thinking, what is good body for Pro Sportsman chassis... Rambler American would be cool...
gasser59 Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Mucho like this one Ed. Progressing nicely and I really like the blue frame and your details.
Truck parts Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is a great looking motor. Can't wait to see what is going on next.
SteelyEd Posted January 18, 2012 Author Posted January 18, 2012 Finally got a couple days free enough for some bench time and get some major work done. The chassis is almost complete; still have the rest of the roll bar, seat, seat belts, and steering wheel to finish up. Have all the electronics wired and complete. Painted the body, it’s MM Oldsmobile Engine Blue. Still have all the decals to go then some clear then polishing. Thanks for looking, I plan on displaying it with the body off the chassis to show off all the details, what do y’all think? Comments welcome, this is my first race car, so I guessed at a lot of the stuff, I saw pictures of 1:1 cars but I have no idea what I’m looking at when it comes to the electronics and stuff.
pharr7226 Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Very nice detailing. I like the body color also.
Mooneyzs Posted January 18, 2012 Posted January 18, 2012 Ed... you are doing one heck of a job on this. it is looking great and the detail is just amazing. keep up the great work. Very nice work on this build.
retroguy Posted January 19, 2012 Posted January 19, 2012 The engine looks great,is the distributor from the kit if so how did you do it or aftermarket and from where...
SteelyEd Posted January 19, 2012 Author Posted January 19, 2012 Thanks guys! Really appreachate it! The distributor is from Detail Master.
SteelyEd Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Got the chassis completed! Completed the roll-bar, that was a bear, lots of parts, had to glue one end and let that dry then glue the other end, it didn’t want to come together at one time. I also added the roll-bar padding and parachute cable. I think it came out pretty good for a first time race car build. It will be a whole before I tackle another one.
SteelyEd Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Got all the kit supplied decals on and added some from Slixx. Just have a few more details to finish up, paint the front and rear bumpers silver, put on the door handles, parachute, and real wing and this will be done. This is probably the longest I ever worked on a model car.
tyrone Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 You should be proud of this build, It turned out fabulous for a first crack at it...
brett Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 I agree , Fantastic job Ed, glad I wont have to compete against this !
SteelyEd Posted January 28, 2012 Author Posted January 28, 2012 Thanks guys, Coming from all of you really means a great deal to me. I have never seen such beautiful work before I found this site. I have learned so much from all of you. I can not thank you enough. Thanks!
gasser59 Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Unless you told us, one would never know this was your first. It came out great and I hope its no too long before another graces your workbench.
