crazyjim
I've been working on the SWC Willys and am now at the hood. Has anyone ever hinged it? I don't know if I should go for a front, rear, or side tilt on the thing. It's being built as a street machine and not the SWC gas coupe. fatkidd
Jim, if you are building it as a street rod, hinge it how you would like. but, I think a forward tilt hood would be cool. i think that you have done a side hinge on something, so why not go forward? or split the hood down the center and have it open from the sides
Willys36
Stock Willys hinged the hood very simply with a 10" wide 'piano' hinge at the top rear of the hood attached to the cowl.
Dr. Cranky
I like the idea of the forward tilting hood.
crazyjim
I just did a simple rear hinged hood. That build is already under glass.
Dr. Cranky
Cool, I will check it out, or maybe I've already seen it.
crazyjim
It's gold and made into a street machine.
aarondupont
If I'm not mistaken, all the hoods on the Stone, Woods & Cooke cars were lift off. Google Stone Woods & Cooke. You'll get pictures. Aaron Dupont

crazyjim
Kind of tough with a lift off hood on a street machine. I hinged it from the rear. The "fingers" were cut off and grooves in the fender filled. It came out okay.
