Wife got me this for my b-day. It will be my first build in the new place. I have a few days off so I will be working on this as much as I can.

Not sure what color it will be The cab is molded in Red. Guess its time to start building.

Thanks for looking.

Alrighty, I'll be watching this up close since I have one of those kits waiting for it's turn on the bench. Thought you were getting the K123? Changed your mind? ;)

Yeah the hobby shop did not have the k123. My wife was with and i did not want to leave empty handed since it was her treat . So I got this one.

Still a good catch Andre! Like I said, I'll be watching this one! Keeping the Claterpillar? I'm going to build mine with an AITM Detroit 12V71and a Seminole paint scheme. I've seen too many on youtube, got to make one!

Yeah it was on sale. not a fan of the color molded parts. Yeah I am keeping the Cat. what color should the engine be? I shows Silver on the box. is that correct?

hey, this well build up 2 be a great kit!!....my best advice seeing it molded in red is 2 wash it in soapy water & Prime it in grey because if you plan on sprayin paint over the red its gonna bleed throw on you ...beenin a fellow truck builer from Nova Scotia (Canada) an had the problums of it bleedin threw after the kit in all finished ...good luck

This is a pretty good kit. I'm working on one right now. For the "Red Plastic Problem", try sealing the plastic with Zinsser/BIN Sealer once all of your body work is complete (follow the directions on the can EXACTLY or it will spray like sludge), then prime & paint as usual.

As for the engine, no silver isn't correct for a Caterpiller 3408. For a Kenworth of that time period you can paint it either white or Caterpiller Yellow.

IF you ever decide to change the 3408 out and put something else in its place ...then YOU KNOW WHERE TO SEND THAT CAT MOTOR DON'T YA'?

IM A SUCKER FOR KITTY POWER!

can't you tell?

Thank you. Man that is an awesome decals set. I wish the manufactures would just sell these decals without having to buy the full kit. Those are killer.............

Got more work on the frame Front suspension is done.

Would the ac unit from this parts pack be period correct. Probably will use the horns from this too.

BTW what year is this truck anyways?

Great start and it looks to be a decent kit. One little tip as a Kenworth employee. Most everything is installed on the frame (and upside down even) before it gets painted. Now chassis can be painted different colors, but all the brackets, suspension parts and even the airlines and some wire harnesses all get painted. They do try to mask off things like the airbags (though that paint peals off once they are inflated), clear canisters (brake fluid and gas filters) and they throw bucket like pieces over the lug nuts that cover the sides of the rear hubs. This is just an FYI. I didn't know about that till I statred working there. I don't mean for you to change anything you are doing. You are doing a great job.

Hey Clayton. You are right. I did end up putting the shocks upside down. good eye I tried to take them out but they will not budge,
