martinfan5 Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 (edited) Here is the foreign car CBP , it is now open, with no end date as of now. The rules are simple, Any manufacturer that is not American, American makes are allowed as long the model is not sold in the USA. As long as the car is foreign it can be a part of this CBP So thats the rules as now that I can think, I am going to try and keep a list of who is building what. If there is a car you want to build but are not sure, please ask. I am trying to figure how to work this thread for our members on here that are not from the USA, thus making US cars foreign to them. For me, I am going to start the thread with a Tamiya Ferrari 360, and Tamiya Merc SLR Mclaren List Me- Skyline R34/ Merc Mclaren SLR/ BMW/ lambo Murcielago Maltsr- E-type Jag/DTM race car. Patami- 65 Volvo amazon roadkill- 70 Celica TA22 Valveasy - Toyota GT One Erif Davis- Honda S2000 Dingo-Australian Ford Falcon XT GT Ffreak- Lambo Murcielago Mr camaro- lotus super 7 Edited February 18, 2012 by martinfan5
maltsr Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Hi Jonathan Put me down for an E-type Jag and a Mercedes DTM race car.
martinfan5 Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 (edited) maltsr, i am looking forward to seeing both of those builds, I will get the list going when everyone gets in here from the first thread I had. Well I will get some pics posted of what I am working on. I got the Ferrari 360 kit for a CBP on a United kingdom model forum, so I will be using it for this one as well. I am going to do a few things to the body, I dont really like the look of the front bumper so I am going to "try" and make a front spolier , I am going to make a rear spoiler . And I am going to use aftermarket wheels/tires, I just need to find a style that I like and will look good Edited November 27, 2011 by martinfan5
maltsr Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 This is my first CBP so am a little nervous and excited at the same time, but looking forward to seeing how the other builds come together. My first car is the E-type I was kindly given by a fellow club member that has been on my 'to-build' pile for a while - this CBP has inspired me to subject it to some putty, glue and paint. As you can see, it's red and in need of a little TLC, it also comes with a cracked windscreen surround . Had I been doing this in the security and privacy of my workbench, it would have been covered in Tamiya Light Blue Pearl, but in the public domain I'm worried about bleed through so I plan on sticking with red, Tamiya red of course, so hopefully any bleed through won't show . Here's my inspiration: The kit tyres (L) are too narrow for my liking, so I dug these out of the parts box ( R) - the wires just about fit, and the tyres in turn just about fit in the arches. Back to the workbench!
martinfan5 Posted November 28, 2011 Author Posted November 28, 2011 If you primer and then use the right base coat you should not have to worrie about bleed thru . I am wanting to get one of these kits now.
martinfan5 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 painted the body, still need to one more wet coat
martinfan5 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Thanks but dont let pics fool ya, it does not look that good now after it has dried a little more, it really does need some sanding with 2000 grit and then another light or two then one more wet coat
martinfan5 Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Here is a little update as what I have got done, well not a lot really, just some painting, but I did get the rear spoiler built, the rear defuser's done, and working on the front splitter .
whale392 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Would you consider Porsche 911s/930s/930SEs as imports?
mopar01lee Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Well i have a few mopars to get done but ..... im in with a Ferrari 308, from revell germany i think ...lol
martinfan5 Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 (edited) Whale, as long as the make is None US , yes that would be import mopar01lee, ok sounds good, a ferrari 308, nice Edited December 1, 2011 by martinfan5
CorvairJim Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Just to play "Devil's Advocate" for a second, what about U.S.-badged cars from elsewhere? Say, a Ford Cortina from England or a 2000's Pontiac GTO from Australia? After all, Ford and Pontiac ARE U.S. nameplates. I would assume these would be acceptable, which brings up the next question: American cars built for the Canadian market like the Pontiac Acadian (Nova) and Beaumont (Chevelle)? Chevy Impalas are now being built in Canada, making them technically foreign cars, while Toyota Camrys and BMW Z4's are built right here in the good ol' U.S.of A., making them technically domestics. For antique car buffs, Monogram had a very nice Springfield, Massachusetts-built 1920's Rolls-Royce in it's lineup for many years, so the vague dividing line has been there for a very long time now. I'm not trying to be a "Smart A**" here, just trying to stimulate some conversation.

Jim- I know you are not trying to be a smart ass, you brought up some very good points, as long the car is not sold in the US, then lets say it can be a part of this CBP I just want none US makes and models being built in here. I dont want to even get started on were cars are made an who owns what I updated the OP and rules Edited December 2, 2011 by martinfan5
martinfan5 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Getting a little bit more done on the 360 And here is another build I have ready to start for this CBP Revells mini cooper
martinfan5 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Got some more done on the f360, here is a few more pics, note the wheels in the pic are not what I am going to use, just using them for mock up
patami Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Has the car to be in stock trim as its was when it left the factory or can it be customised? I got a 65 Volvo Amazon that i could be in whit. But it would be a little customised since i don t got a Volvo engine to put in it.
martinfan5 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 You can do whatever you like to the car, it can be stock , custom, race,
patami Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 You can do whatever you like to the car, it can be stock , custom, race, Ok then put me up whit a 65 Volvo Amazon.
maltsr Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I got some paint on the E-type today. I spent quite some time during the week smoothing out the body, removing mold lines and filling sink marks. The Series 1 has chrome trim running along the tops of the front fenders so these were duplicated with strip styrene. If you're interested in one of these Jonathan, perhaps the latest issue from Revell of Germany might be a better starting point? As you can see, I went with plan A because I had to buy some Light Blue Pearl for another CBP. I'll leave it for a couple of days before light sanding and clear coats.
martinfan5 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 Patami, got you on list Maltsr, looking good, it almost looks silver in the pics, you are right about the RofG kit I think
martinfan5 Posted December 5, 2011 Author Posted December 5, 2011 Roadkill, will add you to the list. Since I am waiting for the clear coats to cure before I start the wetsanding and polishing , I started working on the mini, this is going to be a quick simple build, here is what I a have gotten done so far.
martinfan5 Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Interior is looking good, as well as the brakes
maltsr Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The Celica is looking really good Michael, as are yours Jonathan. Do I see two Ferraris? Slow progress on the E-type, repainted some of the body because gloss paint showed some uneveness in the bodywork - looks much better now Got the engine painted and added a distributor made from sprue (kit doesn't include one) before adding wiring. A wash applied to the wheels too to bring out the spokes.
martinfan5 Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Nice work on the engine and wheels, really nice , roadkill, that dash looks amazing, very nice work on the interior . Yes you did see two Ferraris, one is the 360, and the other is a f430 scuderia I am working on, I had to strip and repaint it, so now I just need to wet sand and polish it, if I decide too . Just got the body polished out on the 360, and I have started final assemble , waiting for the wheels I am going to use to get here. I have kind of mess some things up while finishing it up.
