Old Albion Posted December 13, 2011 Author Posted December 13, 2011 Tony, Thanks for the kind words. Yes I will be doing some weathering, although I have not decided how much. But it will look like its done some work. Gordon, I must appologise. I forgot to say that it was the frame rails only that I used from KFS. I used some of the KW frame stretchers and made 2. The KW frames rails and stretchers are pretty unique and a generic frame is not accurate enough. I did consider streching the kit frame, but decided that it would be better to keep the kit rails for a possible future KW project and use the KFS rails for this build instead. Dave
Old Albion Posted February 2, 2012 Author Posted February 2, 2012 Well I finished this a couple of days ago. A very interesting project which I enjoyed a lot. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Thanks for looking. Dave http://public.fotki.com/oldalbion/kenworth-alaskan-hauler/
Jim B Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 That's very nice. I like the weathering. Quite realistic.
truckabilly Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 That´s a badass truck and awesome work on the build. Great details and excellent weathering. Nice to watch something like this.
mackinac359 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Nice! The weather gives it the right look. Tim
camaro73 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 That looks great! I thought it was a real truck when I saw the first pic. Great job!
Turbo590 Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Dave, superb workmanship Looks cool up against the IH. Kurt
BigBad Posted February 3, 2012 Posted February 3, 2012 Yep, that is a pretty convincing job you did there. I like the no frills, built for work and it looks like it did! Nice job! So I guess the Transtar beside it is brand new from the factory and freshly lettered...
Old Albion Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 Many Thanks for all the kind words. Its not the easiest kit to work with, the instructions and some of the parts leave a lot to be desired. But with a little perseverance the result is quite pleasing. Thanks Again Dave
Tony Bryan Posted February 4, 2012 Posted February 4, 2012 Dave, that is some realistic weather you have done, whole model looks great, what is the gas bottle for?, central heating? and you may have to fit those chains while driving on that slippery road
cowboysevens Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 very nice dave, ya done a great job on a custom built truck from back in the day. the weathering adds to the authenticity, and makes it look just a real workin truck
Truck parts Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Dave, I love the kw you have done. Can you show us some pic of the IH. Thanks
