BHarrison Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 This is a project I got started on this weekend. I know they make this one in resin but I wanted to do this in plastic as I felt I could get my proportions more accurate....or as accurate as possible as the delivery I started with wasn't spot on to start with. But, I got the wagon look I was after, and its all plastic. This one will also get the required scratchbuilt interior panels and rear seats (middle and third row). It will be a custom like is currently seen at NSRA and Goodguys events and even though its the lower optioned Handyman Wagon, it may still get a little wood grain here and there. Thanks for looking! disabled modeler Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I did the same thing to one I have last year...photos of it are in my photobucket.

disabled modeler Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 good job on opening the windows and puting the door lines in. it looks like it came that way Thanks Josh!...it was pretty tough you need to take your time on them. I am kind of a station wagon nut....always ether looking for more or converting others into them. Shame there are no decent looking luggage racks out there other than the one that comes with the old MPC 77 Dodge van kit. Looks like your off to a great start on yours.
Greg Pugh Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Impressive work so far. I'll be watching this one for sure.
CorvairJim Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 I started one of these a while back but other projects got in the way and I completely forgot about it until just now! I'll have to dig it up and get back to work on it.
Chuck Most Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Forgot this kit existed! Love seeing it converted to a 4-door wagon.
RodneyBad Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Looks great with the 3rd door and the windows added.

Fast Floyd 2 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 Sweet, I have one of those LOL Nice job on the doors & windows!!!! Looks great so far
Guest Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 That looks cool Brian! My neighbor had a '57 Chevy that he said was a handy man wagon, but it looked like a shorter version of the Nomad. It was a two door like a Nomad and IIRC, it didn't have a rear seat. He was a carpenter and used it as his work car. Of course at that time, '57 Chevies were just old worn out Chevies on their way to the junkyard.
Johnag4004 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) Hi Bryan, Looking great, I love how you cut the windows out, may I ask how you did it please... How do I find your account? I would love to see your wagon as well as your other builds. Here you go Bryan...: - http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k491/MarkOrr1964/ Thanks Josh!...it was pretty tough you need to take your time on them. disabled modeler Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 (edited) Yeah me too...LOL.. I just woke up when posting Sorry Bryan. I cut my windows out using the back of a hobby knife blade very carefully . I used masking tape built up with several layers as a guide for the blade not taking too much out at once just keep scarping away at it. Bryan must have had a better idea to remove the window areas than I did...took forever. Hey Bryan....any ideas of what color it will be when your done with it? Looks very nice...keep up the great work on it! Edited November 28, 2011 by disabled modeler
BHarrison Posted November 30, 2011 Author Posted November 30, 2011 Its gonna be some kind of factory offered color but I am not sure yet. I used a panel scriber to do the door lines but I cut out a hole for the windows much smaller than needed and used an exacto knife and a sander stick to sneak up on the proper lines and dimensions. I can tell ya size and shape are everything to capture the look on the windows. I have ruined one before trying the same thing.
