I cant seem to upload pictures to the gallery or my avatar from my photobucket site. I am sure it is extremely easy but I am stupid you are smart .

IIRC, they have to be on your computer, not a photo host...model pix need a photo host like photobucket tho.....

Under your profile settings when you click on "Browse"-------somewhere in your hard disc where you keep your pictures, select a folder and pick out a photo, Now mind you, the photo has to be within the parameters of what the avatar calls for (200 pixels or larger) and you can adjust or crop as needed.

As Dick said, avatar pics are taken from your hard disc.

My problem is I don't have many pictures on my notebook they are all in photobucket.the notebook is relatively new so I still am getting used to it and what it can and cannot do. I really just want to add pictures to my gallery from photobucket and as soon as I figure out how to do that I can figure out the avatar. I am glad I am not the only one.

Randy, seems as though you don't add them from online..........as I type this I'm creating an album now in the Gallery. You first have to create an album, then add photos from your hard disc. If you have the photos on Photobucket, then they should already be on your hard disc.

You did mention that your notebook is recently new--------were the pics uploaded on Photobucket from another PC? If so, then of course you'd have to save them again to your new hard disc, then transfer those to your gallery here.

Hope this helps! ;)

Thank you Bill, the part my brain doesn't understand is why a person cannot use pictures from a photo site. I am clearly not very tech savvy and moving stuff around from one device to another is not a simple task for me.perhaps I am envious.

Don't feel bad Randy. I couldn't do it even with Harry helping me out. I even resized the photos on my computer and they still wouldn't work. I didn't have a problem until the last site upgrade. It may be the same problem you're having.

Couldn't be easier to paste photos from Photobucket into a thread.

1. Place your cursor arrow over the Photobucket image you've uploaded to your album. A box will pop up with fields to select from.

2. Go to the bottom field - and click on the code in the bottom rectangle where it says IMG code. It should say Copied when you do that.

3. Go to the reply box on the forum where you want to post it. Then simply paste it in by holding down the command/control key and hitting the letter v.

Make sure the code you paste in is on its own line and not with other material. You won't see the image until you hit the button to post it.

Randy is talking about adding photos to his gallery and his avatar, not adding them to a thread. This site won't accept photos from photobucket in the gallery or avatar anymore for some reason. They have to be on the computer itself. My avatar won't even accept photos from my computer. But for some reason, it would let me load a photo from photobucket in my signature. Go figure...

Gotcha. In both cases, the image to upload might be too big. I had to do a lot of experimenting with my avatar to get it down to an acceptable size. The photo file maximum size listed for the gallery is 365K. For the avatar, as mentioned above, it should be around 150 x 150 pixels.

Have you created your album in the Members Gallery? That's step 1. You have to create an album to upload to, and select it before you can successfully upload. For both the Members Gallery and avatar, the images should come from your computer and not Photobucket. At least, that's the way I do it.

OK, I think I got it figgered out! Here's what I did Randy:

1 select a photo in your photobucket and resize it to 150 x 150 or somewhere close. mine in my current avatar is 159 x 66. I guess that's why it isn't showing all of it. I'll redo it later and see what happens.

2 make a copy. don't select replace original!

3 go back to your first page on your photobucket and click refresh. your resized photo should now appear.

4 open your pictures on your computer and select any file and open it.

5 go back to your photobucket and right click on your new photo and select copy.

6 now go to your pictures and paste it into your opened file

7 go to your profile and select my settings

8 click on change photo and the box will appear

9 click on browse, find your photo and click on it. It should then appear in the box. Don't worry if it doesn't show up in the box on the left.

10 click done, save changes and you should be there!

Now I'm gonna go back and see if I can fix mine and see what happens.

Hey!! I've got part of one now!

Yeah, the dog in my avatar is a 28K file. I had to downsize the image on my monitor and do a cropped screen shot to finally make it work so I could upload it from my computer. And my signature image did come from Photobucket, and I had to reduce its size too.

I'm gonna have to find a photo that is more square. By the time I get my current one reduced to where it will fit,it's so tiny and blurry that you can't even see it. I may finally get it,but at least I'm closer than I was before.
