moparmagiclives Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Is it funny because the studs broke and the wheels fell off or because hes wearing red fire proof shoes and daisy duke shorts?
Dragline Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 THIS is why driving Jap sucks.......among other things.. Bob
Longbox55 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 it's not very clear in the video but it looks like only one of the wheel studs actually broke off and that was probably the one that had the lug nut on it that didn't fail. what i'm guessing happened here was the wrong lug nuts for the wheels, maybe the stock style with aftermarket wheels or something like that. if the center of the aftermarket wheels is thicker than the stock wheels were then the lug nuts wouldn't have had the proper amount of thread engagement with the studs. That's pretty much what I'm thinking. They also probably just put the lug nuts on with a 4 way, rather than torquing them with a torque wrench like you're supposed to do.
LAone Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 THIS is why driving Jap sucks.......among other things.. Bob wow bob, so quick to judge some j-tin, among other things. i own 2 toyotas, one 26 years old and the other 30 years old and yet they still have the original wheel studs...hmm foreign brand failure or just a noob that didnt know any better??? you tell me.
Lownslow Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 ive only seen that happen when they put the wrong lugs on
Guest Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 That was funny!! Could it be that they just simply forgot to tighten the lug nuts?? Drifting is one of the lamest things to come around in a while. I won't even dare call it motorsports.
Lownslow Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 drifting on its own is stupid but as a racing technique its invaluable
Greg Myers Posted December 1, 2011 Author Posted December 1, 2011 You know Double d, I like what I like and tuners and drifting ain't in the equation. No hatred or animosity there, just don't like 'em. Here are my "domestic" tuners, regardless of the badge or emblems that are on them.
Guest Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 I also don't get or understand the hatred or animosity towards imports and tuner cars, especially from those who own domestic "tuner" style cars that they drive every day. i'm not loyal to any one particular make or brand or the country in which they originated. i like what i like, regardless of the badge or emblems that are on it. Around here, the animosity isn't towards the cars so much as it is towards the owners. About all there is around here are "wanna be's" that think it's a tuner car if they have a big spoiler, loud muffler, obnoxious ground effects and a thumping stereo. They cruise around the parking lots with their stereos thumping/blasting and revving their engines, but they're all noise and no go. When an old '98 Taurus with a DOHC 3.0 can outrun them, they need to sell their stereos and go buy some performance parts. Real tuner cars,on the other hand, are a different story and very rare around here.
Modelmartin Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Someone must have taken the guys lugs off or maybe when he put the autocross tires on it someone screwed up. How can all 4 wheels pop off nearly simultaneously?? Perhaps they left one lug on each wheel. Even with mismatched lugs and wheels I can't see that happening. I suspect foul play!
Draggon Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Yea, well, people make mistakes. However, lug studs and/or nuts are pretty basic. What a Maroon! In the "Eddie Griffin Style" what a nut!
martinfan5 Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 My 2001 jap car is going on 300,000 miles and still going strong, and its not a rice burner or turner, I can not stand drifting , it was cool before it became mainstream here in the states( thanks to a movie which made it explode over drifting got lame and "stupid" IMO once it went mainstream and came stateside. i really like the old school street drifting that was more an underground thing in Japan before the whole D1 thing went nuts and became trendy and big. the RX7 in the video i don't believe was at a drifting event, pretty sure that was an autocross I also don't get or understand the hatred or animosity towards imports and tuner cars, especially from those who own domestic "tuner" style cars that they drive every day. i'm not loyal to any one particular make or brand or the country in which they originated. i like what i like, regardless of the badge or emblems that are on it. I agree with you all the way Around here, the animosity isn't towards the cars so much as it is towards the owners.
