Mercedes SLS customized...

G'day guys... Here's my latest project, the Revell Euro SLS...

Everything is basically painted & awaiting the body/panels to gas-out & be clear-coated/polished. I absolutely love this car, it remind's me of the Viper, a European 1 albeit ;-)

This kit is superb! Great detailing & fit all-round! Except for the right side door being slightly bent & not being able to sit firmly in place :-(

It won't pose to much of a problem as I intend to show it with the doors open :-)

Colour is Marenello Red, Duplicolour. It will have a Matte-black stripe running front to back down the centre, like the 1:1 I'm replicating. Everything basically stock except for wheels, they're Aoshima 20s. All I've had to do to fit them correctly is add spacers in the wheelbacks to get them to sit out a bit more. Anyway here's some pics....

Cliff, the model is AMAZING, and I love the pictures. What kind of a backdrop are you using? Is this a diorama you've built? You have pictures of it?

The model really stands OUT against this background, in part because the colors are so perfect.

Geez Doc you're quick mate! Lol! Mate it's nothing special, just took pics in my hobbyroom, get's a lot of sunlight all day, on top of a white board... No diorama, sorry mate.... Also just using my iPhone 4Gs for pics... Doing a good job I take it???

Great build, so far. Like the mild custom work you are doing. As usual, beautiful finish. I have been thinking about how I would customize my kit as well.

G'day guys, quick update... Managed to get the main black stripe on the Merc' today.... Contemplating whether or not to add the thinner stripes, either side of the main stripe, what do you guys think??

Lookin good bro.

Add the thin outer stripes, i reckon they'll frame the wide centre stripe nicely and make it look even better.

i read a review of this kit and they mentioned door warp, too.

very nice choice of rims, too. they give it solidity and brawn.

Thanks GT... Yeh I'm going with the extra thin stripes on both sides of the main... Just gotta get to the LHS & see about getting some pIn-striping tape... It'll save me a lot of hassle cutting my broader tape down to size ;-) Glad you like the wheels... Glad they weren't a hassle to fit, too!
