Deathgoblin Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 This one is a bit more recent. It has to be the most complicated kit I've ever built. I got it used off Ebay, but the person I had bought it from had tried to open the trunk; badly. It took a bit to fix it. I almost built it with an opening trunk, but couldn't get the hinges right. I'll leave that for a later kit. It went together like a dream, though. The paint is Testor's Ice Blue metallic. Everything else is brush painted. Wish I had left the windows open so you could see the interior better. This was after I had gotten more experience with foiling and clear coats.
Greg Pugh Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 That one turned out nice. I like that color. The car looks classy.
MachinistMark Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 that is a fantastic kit to put together. great detail and more importantly well engineered. looks great
Dr. Cranky Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Very nice, and the color looks just right. Good job.
Haubenschild Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 clean build + awesome paint = Fantastic model , i love it!
Harry P. Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Looks fantastic! And I see you managed to attach the mylar "chrome" strips well. Some people have had problems with those things not sticking and tending to pop off over time.
Rdkingjay Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Nice job. I have the same kit in line for a winter project as a Mass. State Police cruiser. Glad to hear it goes together well.
Deathgoblin Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 It was surprising how close the tolerances were on this kit. The frame almost snaps into the floor pan and will hold without glue or any pressure. The PE parts were nice. It's unbelievably detailed and just screams to have wiring and hoses fitted. Galaxie outdid themselves on it.
Deathgoblin Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 The only problem I ran into while building it was i dropped one of the windshield wipers while building it (they are tiny, fiddly little pieces). I replaced them with PE parts, but didn't realize until after I took the pictures that I had knocked one of them off while dusting and it was lying on the fender. I already glued it back on.
