brad4321 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I've had good luck using metalizers over the years. But they work best on bare plastic and not at all over primer. But if a piece has to be primed, will the metalizer work as well over a glossy black finish as it does bare plastic? Hopefully someone already knows so I won't have to experiment.
Chillyb1 Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I've found that the metalizers will stick to anything. You're right about how well they work over bare plastic and I like to use the aluminum as a primer.
brad4321 Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 I've found they stick to anything for sure. It's just that if you spray it over paint, it doesn't buff or shine. It's amazing as a primer in that it will show ANY of the tiniest flaws. It hides nothing. It will test your sanding skills.
John Pol Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Well you guys are lucky that you can get it. We in canada haven`t got for about 4 years now. Boy I missed using it for sure. John Pol
Greg Pugh Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 It's pretty amazing stuff actually. I use it quite a bit.

scalenut Posted December 4, 2011 Posted December 4, 2011 they work fine over a glossy black , I've used spraycan black, testors enamel black , and alclad black enamel base all with great results, just like the alclads the finish needs to be smooth . I have also used them over primers , I first buff the primer coat with a piece of pantyhose to slick it up , than spray. never had problems with it coming off ,
