Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Folks, as you've all heard, the world is supposed to end in 2012 (I don't believe it, but let's play along) and I am wondering how many of you would be interested in participating in a 2012 POST APOCALYPSE MODEL BUILDING CONTEST. I am posted here to get your attention, but also to gauge interest before I move it over to COMMUNITY BUILDS where I will formalize the information, the rules, the prizes, judges and other stuff. Let me know. And this time, it's for control of the world! Let's hear from you.
BOSWELL891 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Sounds interesting even though i know nothing about what a post apocalypse car would look like
Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Cole, don't worry, we'll bring you up to speed shortly. Most people would think of Mad Maxx, but I think it's a lot more. In my case, I like to always think of Zombies, a Toothless Zombie Horde, etc . . . It's merely a way to get people to do lots of kit-bashing and have a blast with their imagination. Most of the time EVERYTHING GOES. I think this time, I'm even thinking of both SHINY AND RUSTY vehicles.
Chuck Most Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Sounds interesting even though i know nothing about what a post apocalypse car would look like A few examples for ya, then.
Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Wow, Chuck, thanks for coming to the rescue. Yes, those are great examples, and your inspiration can come from movies, books, video games . . . real life. The idea is to have fun. I am thinking that instead of money (like last time) I am going to have goodies, all sorts of goodies. Airbrush, kits, supplies, etc . . . I am still ironing out the details.
BOSWELL891 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 The cars Chuck posted make me think of Call of Duty Zombies but instead of walking around your using modified and armored cars. This seems like something really cool
Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 Oh, Cole, buddy, if you've never built one, you don't know half of the fun you can have building models.
george 53 Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 Whatever happened to the post apocolyptic build off we were alredy doin??? I never saw anything else about it? Who showed their rides????
Dr. Cranky Posted December 6, 2011 Author Posted December 6, 2011 I think the thread is still there, and some folks built some cool stuff, but it wasn't a contest. I am talking about a contest for this year, and of course, there will be a thread about it in the COMMUNITY BUILD section.
diymirage Posted December 6, 2011 Posted December 6, 2011 i would be interested in this i have a 1/35 anti aircraft gun that looks an awefull lot like a 50 call in 1/25
Ryan S. Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'd be interested. I have one I started but didn't get very far with, and an idea for a second. What are you thinking about as a time-line? Maybe an end date of Dec. 21, 2012?
Agent G Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 More like "glow in the dark" type shiny. You know, like Las Vegas, on New Years Eve................................ I'm in for sure. G
moparmagiclives Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Sweet deal man. I've been thinking about a "Zombie Responce vehicle" This sounds pretty cool. I would be in.
Tony T Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I've been wanting to build one...or two...so, I'd be in.
martinfan5 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I would , but I dont know how to do the rusted /weather look, so mine would be shiney, I am getting better at , I like G's idea of glow in the dark

Chuck Most Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 More like "glow in the dark" type shiny. You know, like Las Vegas, on New Years Eve................................ I'm in for sure. G Haven't tried it out yet, but the cap DOES glow in the dark, that much I do know.
martinfan5 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I have seen that at wally world and have thought long and hard about trying it out
Tom Setzer Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Virgil, This sounds like a great idea! I'll try to build something for the Contest if you do it!
Sixx Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'm in Doc, I'll even have ZOMBIES!!!!!!!! I'm gonna be casting some very soon...my resin & rtv are comming thursday!!! WOOOHOOO!!!!
Dr. Cranky Posted December 7, 2011 Author Posted December 7, 2011 Thanks, everyone. Derrick, you are casting Zombies. Please tell us more. If you do, will you be--how can I say this?--putting them out on the market? I think this time I see no reason for not having the option of making the vehicles shiny. It's an alternative. Rust & Shiny can get along in the world, right? Again, I am ironing out some details, but I won't be ready for any information release until the new year. Your input, of course, is expected and greatly appreciated.
moparmagiclives Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'm in Doc, I'll even have ZOMBIES!!!!!!!! I'm gonna be casting some very soon...my resin & rtv are comming thursday!!! WOOOHOOO!!!! Count me in on those, if they go on the market as it were....
moparmagiclives Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I would , but I dont know how to do the rusted /weather look, so mine would be shiney, I am getting better at , I like G's idea of glow in the dark I've never done the weatherd look either....I wonder if someone out there has come out with a good "how to" book
Wagoneer81 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Sounds like fun, Doc! I may just have to come up with something for this... I've always wanted to try a Post-Apoc style build...
