Let`s say you were building a very rare kit for someone, perhaps Revell`s 1/12 `65 Shelby GT 350 Mustang, and when the GT 350 decals disintegrated within seconds of hitting water, what would you do? :( :(

The kit decals are completely unusable. I have never printed decals, so I don`t think that will be an option. I am thinking maybe there are some RC Shelby bodies that come with the decals or stickers, but I haven`t been able to find any. Anyone know if anybody makes these on the aftermarket? I mostly build GM in large scale, so this is new territory for me.

Thanks.

HPI a company which manufactures bodies for R-C cars produced a GT-350 body with sticker style decals. You might want to check out their web site at www.hpiracing.com and talk to them about what scale the body is. It appears to be about 1/12th scale, but that's just my guess. Other than that, you might write Revell and see if they still have any decal sheets available for the kit in question. Some of the kit manufactures used to keep extra decal sets on hand because of a replacement request from somebody who had trouble with the originals in the kit.

CHEERZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have that kit somewhere in my storage unit and I'll see if a friend of mine would like to take a stab at reproducing those decals. Thanks for the heads up about this and maybe a warning to all. When about to use those ancient/rare decals get at least a high quality scan/copy in color before you dip them in water and they disintegrate. At least you have some artwork to go on.

Thanks guys. I think the decals on that RC body will be to light to work on this model, as the hood/roof/trunk stripes are dark blue.

Mike, I would definitely be interested if your friend is able to print a set. I think the customer would be willing to pay at least a little bit for his trouble.

Hawk,

Given your skill level and the quality of your work, why not mask and shoot the stripes? For the GT 350 rocker letters, press-on type at art supply stores might be found in scale.

That's what I did on my 1/12 GT-40.

Masking and shooting the stripes,or( shooting the stripes first then shooting the white) would be the way I'd try. Then move onto finding some lettering to do the letters/numbers. How about a couple large sheets of blue decal paper. Also,I seem to recall that those stripes vary in width down the front.

Thanks guys. I don`t think masking and shooting them is an option at this point, though. It is completely together now, plus I am waaaaaaaayyyyyyyy over as far as time on this project. I think I am just going to try to find someone who is willing to print a set off.
