crazyjim Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Looks terrific but now I keep hearing "Ballad of the Green Beret" in my head.
Ira Posted March 8, 2012 Author Posted March 8, 2012 Ira......thats what it needed .......very impressive. Thanks John!!! Yeah, I really like the silver fins too. It reminds me of a toy I had when I was a kid...
Trans Am Erik Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Very cool, I go for the crazy ideas that require a huge emagination and huge ammounts of bodywork. I really like the concept. The color scheme is very "Flash Gordon" or "Thunderbirds". It reminds me of a picture I was going to do in an art class. The teacher gave us a list of things we couldn't draw in that class, in that list were hot rods, space ships, and pin up girls. I was a bit bent out of shape and said I was going to do a poster size picture of 2 spaceship hot rods (like the ZZ Top Afterburner) drag racing, flagged by a pin up in a skin tight space suit. Unfortunately I never got the chance to do the drawing. It would make for a cool diorama.
Ira Posted March 9, 2012 Author Posted March 9, 2012 Beautiful! Bingo, you got it just right. Thank You Dr.!
Ira Posted March 10, 2012 Author Posted March 10, 2012 Looks terrific but now I keep hearing "Ballad of the Green Beret" in my head. Thanks Jim! Yeah, now that you mention it, I'm hearing that song again too...

The Red &Silver colors remind me of a Metal Tether Car I had when I was a kid....
Ira Posted March 19, 2012 Author Posted March 19, 2012 (edited) FINALLY GOT IT IN!!! It has been a challenge, I finally figured out how to install the Interior! The Interior had to be Sectioned and Narrowed to fit the Body & Bubbbletop. I first, glued the sides with G-S Hypo Cement, (Jewelers Glue). It doesnt attack the paint & it dries fast. Then I put strapping tape on the backsides of the sides. The tape is sticky enough to to hold the floor board in place. I also glued it in place. Really Glad to have the Interior in place! Dr. Cranky Posted March 20, 2012 Posted March 20, 2012 Looking great. I love the color. All the details are coming together nicely.
Ira Posted March 20, 2012 Author Posted March 20, 2012 FILL- IN The MISTAKES!!! After I got the Interior in place, I noticed that there were some gaps... I used a thick White Glue, Aleene's Tacky Glue, to fill the spaces around the rear armrests, and a couple other places. Clean up is easy, a damp Q-tip or tooth pick, will make a nice clean line. After the glue dries, Paint It! I use this technique a lot during the finishing of a model, it covers many problem areas for me.

Edward Gore Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Awesome project! I just now found it and looking through the pages. I plan a similar thing with the '58 Ford Thunderbird bubble top kit. How are you handling the bottom of this vehicle?

Ira Posted March 22, 2012 Author Posted March 22, 2012 (edited) STAR FIRE!!! Got tired of the name MIRROR and I decided to change the name to STAR FIRE! Edited March 23, 2012 by Ira
GrandpaMcGurk Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 STARFIRE!!! Got tired of the name MIRROR and I decided to change the name to STARFIRE! Mirror was okay and Starfire is even better.....but (in my twisted mind) "Pegasus" tickles my fancy.
Dr. Cranky Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Ira, the white glue tip is excellent and I can see how it works beautifully.
