rmvw guy Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 The engine is incredible as is the rest of the model. Love your work.
Harry P. Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Dave, anything new to show us on this project? It's an incredible piece of model making, you have skills many others can only dream they had!
dpride Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 (edited) Thank you all for commenting. Ognib, The chassis for this car is RHS 18 gauge ERW steel tube. The exhuast pipes are Plastruct tube and elbows and the welds" are superglue mixed with talc. Harry P, thanks for the kind words, It's what I do for a living.....make stuff. As to this project, it's just about finished except for a few little things like putting on the door handles etc. Here is a current pic with a girl I prepared earlier. Edited May 5, 2013 by dpride
bryan_m Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 so cool! this car just screams cool! im thinkin about doin a large scale build for my "comeback" ive been away from the bench for 6 months and, i have a couple 1/8th kits, but definitely wanna get alot of aftermarket parts, and scratchbuild alot of stuff too......i want it to be my best build to date. very nice work! cheers bryan
bobthehobbyguy Posted February 24, 2014 Posted February 24, 2014 Just found this thread and all I can say is wow! How long does it take you to build a quarter scale car. bobthehobbyguy
Baugher Garage Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Man, that thing looks like it'd fire right up and GO!!
dpride Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 Bob, I could probably build one in about 6 weeks if I had a deadline, depending on the type of car. The other 2 cars I'm doing have been about a year in the making. Because no kits or parts are available, I have to make all the bits. Leonard, thanks Mike, I have imagined that too... :-)
kobuzz Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 AMAZING!! Any other builds you can share with us?
dpride Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 Scott, Thanks. There is one other large scale car of mine in this forum "Fiat twin engine coupe" I have a 27 Ford fuel modified roadster (salt flats car) almost finished. I will post that when it's done.
GoatGuy Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Amazing work. Are any parts bolted together or is it all glued ? Just curious.
dpride Posted April 12, 2014 Author Posted April 12, 2014 Dave, excuse the late answer. All of the metal bits are bolted together and some of the major plastic parts. At this size they get heavy.
Dyno Davo Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 Hey Dave, awesome model mate, great to see another aussie hot rod builder.
AZ Boy Posted April 12, 2014 Posted April 12, 2014 All I can say David is "WOW!!!" The detailing is just awesome!
