91blaze Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Are there any stores that sell Evergreen products. I need to buy strips and sheets for an upcoming project. There is a Hobby Lobby near me but they don't sell Evergreen and there is also another Hobby Lobby opening soon. Otherwise I don't know any other places that might sell Evergreen products. If there are no stores that sell this then I will just have to buy it from Ebay. Thanks for your help.
JamesW Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) I don't have any stores near me that sell any of it either. I buy mine from Hobbylinc. Edited December 30, 2011 by grimreaper

Guest Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Does Hobbytown do any mail order? I haven't got one within a hundred miles of me. Mine does, but supposedly they all will. I haven't used it yet,but the last time I was there, they told me they would ship anything regardless of weight for five dollars as long as the purchase was over twenty five dollars. It won't hurt to check with them.
crazyjim Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Rob's Hobby World in Ocala carries a pretty good supply of Evergreen. I'll be going there in the morning to pick up some 2" foam insulation to make mountains on our train layout.

Chuck Most Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I don't know about Evergreen, but you can order Plastruct directly from the company.
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I'll have to look into them. Harry, you know my feelings about online shopping Hmmm.... I forgot about that. Well, you're closing yourself off from the world's largest hobby shop with the biggest selection, open 24/7/365. And they deliver to your door! I guess you could always order over the phone, though.
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 That's the current plan. It looks like I might have to give in one day and go with online...but i'm fightin it tooth and nail until then! Come on over to the dark side... Once you come over, you'll wonder why you waited so long!
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 NNNoooooooo...i'll never join you! Besides...I need my right hand for modeling. Can you spare a kidney? Bwa ha ha ha ha ha..........

91blaze Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Yeah, I just looked on Google maps and found a Hobbytown half an hour from me. Guess I'm going to have to take a trip there soon and take a look around. Thanks for the help.
Dave Van Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I order direct from Plastruct. About the same price or a little lower, sheets are bigger, shapes have more per package....great quality and service. I ordered 25 packages of one type sheet plastic and they called me to confirm I wanted that many. Good folks.
crazyjim Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Other than manufacturers, what's the difference between Evergreen & Plastruct?
Dave Van Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Other than manufacturers, what's the difference between Evergreen & Plastruct? None really....both are good grade styrene. I use both...both are great. My locol hobby shop is 3 hours away so I order a lot of my supplies....thus I use Plastruct. Here is a 1/48 box car scratch built totally from Plastruct and Evergreen plastic.
scalenut Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 (edited) I prefer Plastruct ,you get more for the $ and I think the selection is greater as well Edited December 31, 2011 by scalenut
Dave Van Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 I prefer Plastruct ,you get more for the $ and I think the selection is greater as well And they offer a discount on large orders......and I agree.....more for your $$$
91blaze Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 Just so you guys know, I only said Evergreen 'cause it's the only name I know. I don't really care which brand I use.
91blaze Posted December 31, 2011 Author Posted December 31, 2011 I will probably just use whatever is cheaper 'cause I'm on a tight budget right now. But thanks for the suggestions.
Harry P. Posted December 31, 2011 Posted December 31, 2011 Go to a home improvement store like Home Depot and check out the "For Sale" and "Beware of Dog" and "No Trespassing" type signs. Many times they're made of plastic and can be a great source of cheap sheet styrene (if the thickness works for you). I once had an Alpo sign from an old supermarket display... that one sign kept me supplied with sheet styrene for many years.
Edsel-Dan Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 I think you can Mail-order from Evergreen I ordered a catalog from them a few years ago. Same with Plastruct. Check their website, it might just give you their Snail-mail address to order that way. You will have to send payment. Checks will delay shipping, so I use Postal Money orders.
