This started out as a plain white 1/25th Motor Max Diplomat with a blue/red jetsonic light bar. I stripped it to bare metal and primed with etching then sandable primer. The french and electric blue are authentic colors. The paint and the custom made decals are under three coats of Dupont clear. The whole car was then sanded and went through a three stage polishing. The CHP style push bar and siren unit are scratchbuilt, as are all the antenna's. The tires that came with it were way to skinny, so I swapped them out with ones from the parts box. The police gear is from a Roscoe patrol car kit. We never used these back in the 80's. Primarily Ford LTD's and Chevy Caprices. But I have always liked them, so here is my interpretation. Thanks for looking.

Very nice, Jay!

I drove those dudes. Very nice rides. Not as hot as their predecessors, the 76-78 Fury IIs and Monacos we had, but at least they were far more nimble than the 79 Gran Fury Boats.

I had one as a Cab driver . I wasn't too impressed by the lack of a real trunk in the thing . As Danno said , they rode nice , especially considering the streets of Houston . Ed Shaver

Very nice build. Where'd you find the right colors? Department body shop maybe? ;)

MUCH more nimble. They were actually pretty good alley rats. In a congested urban area, take off and stop was more important than outright speed. These were though, ahem, slower, than the earlier Fury's.

Well, I'm one of them. The guy who runs the body shop ay HQ is a pretty good friend. He helps me out with paint. I've built a dozen or so over the years, including a replica of my assigned cruiser.

Cool Diplomat! I like policecars - they protect and serve the collection ;)

Didn't knew, that the Name "Diplomat" was used on an us-car too. Opel had a Diplomat in the late 50-60s.

I knew it. I always had my sources in fleet services. Good job on it.

Question, the lighter color is "french blue" right? Its a sort of light blue gray?

It was ALWAYS very good to keep the fleet boss on your side!

We once wrecked, and fixed, one car in an 8 hour shift. :o

I never had that experience, but I always had the fastest and best handling car in the entire fleet (nearly 100+). And usually the newest, too - other than the boss, of course. He outranked even me.
