Harry P. Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 A few more abbreviations you'll see here from time to time: PE=photoetched OOB=out of box (box stock) CA=cyanoacrylate (crazy glue) MEK=methyl ethyl ketone, a solvent that can be used to glue styrene RMCoM=Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland (aftermarket stuff) RoG=Revell of Germany RC=radio controlled GSL=Greater Salt Lake Model Car Championship contest: http://www.gslchampionship.org/ NNL=Nameless National Luminaries (or National Nameless Luminaries)... the original "for show and not for competition" type model show created by a group of...well... nationally known model car builders. The format was created in response to a letter to the editor (Scale Auto) written by Mark Gustavson, blasting certain "nationally known luminaries who shall remain nameless" for not attending a contest he had created and promoted. MCM=should be obvious... SA=that "other" mag OP=original post or original poster. The first post of a thread. PM=private (or personal) message RBI=runs batted in

Erik Smith Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 what's R&M ? I see that a lot Depends on context - I would guess Replicas and Miniatures Company of Maryland if dealing with aftermarket. Revell/Monogram if dealing with kits.
Art Anderson Posted January 2, 2012 Posted January 2, 2012 DKCM! Uh, can't use the language on a family-oriented forum, but it does refer to a sharp knife! Art

Erik Smith Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 A/N Army Navy Fittings Never knew that. Thought it was something to do with aluminum or anodized.
Harry P. Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Never knew that. Thought it was something to do with aluminum or anodized. From Wikipedia: The AN thread is a particular type of fitting used to connect flexible hoses and rigid metal tubing that carry fluid. It is a US military-derived specification that dates back to World War II and stems from a joint standard agreed upon by the Army and Navy, hence AN.
Chuck Most Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Just a question- how is a list of abbreviations a 'dictionary'? Wouldn't "Modeler's List of Abbreviations" be a more descriptive thread title?
