mikelo Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 This is one that I finally finished after a long wait. As you can probably tell, it was started in the 80's (hence the pink paint) and was based on a drawing featured in a sketch section somewhere. I did try to update it a little by adding pearl to the paint and composite headlights. The tail lights are 87 (I think) t bird pieces. I used both an Elvira & the green kit from the previous release to make this. I finished it when our club used the 2-n-1 kit for a club build. None of the body parts on this build are from that kit (although it would have been easier.). Simple kit, but went to gether great.
Lyle Willits Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 How weird. I never thought anyone else would build this thing. This was a sketchpad drawing by the late Brian Borden, from the early 80's. I built the model and it was the first model I ever had in a magazine. By today's standards, this thing is PURE ###### and it didn't hold up well after 25 years. Yours is MUCH NICER!!!!!
mikelo Posted May 25, 2007 Author Posted May 25, 2007 Hey Lyle, thats it! Mine would have looked a lot more like that had I actually completed it when I started it. There are some definate nice points on yours. For starters, your windshields looks like they are mounted better then how I did mine. Ilike how your hood scoop is opened (something I usually try to do myself) and great job scratch building those disks! Mine just came from the 87 Thunderbird kit. They were really close to getting stripped and painted pink then too. That was the part that started the whole build. Thanks for the pics & letting know I'm not crazy.
