Dr. Cranky Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Folks, here's a great documentary (MARWENCOL) about a man named Mark who suffered brain damage after being attacked at a bar and he's started building these 1/6th (GI Joe/Barbie doll size) scale dioramas and it just turns into an amazing piece of film. You can check it out on NETFLIX. I think you'll enjoy it. Best, DC If you have seen it, let me know what you think.
gbdolfans Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Hey there Doc, Did you mean to put a link to this??? If not, what is the name of the film??? It sounds great.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Hi, George, it's called MARWENCOL and you can watch it through NETFLIX. Here's a link to the webiste: http://www.marwencol.com/
Dr. Cranky Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 What is fascinating about this documentary, for me, is how they weave in the act of memory recovery through the building of dioramas and story telling. Also, it turns out Mark, the protagonist in his own recovery, is a fairly complex and enigmatic individual. Fascinating.
RancheroSteve Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 Yes, I have seen it. It's a remarkable film with several surprise twists, which I won't reveal here.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 10, 2012 Author Posted January 10, 2012 Yes, I found those very strange and unexpected . . . but also part of what makes Mark so complex.
chepp Posted January 10, 2012 Posted January 10, 2012 I saw it broadcast on a local PBS station last year. It is definitely worth watching. In some ways it's kind of creepy and in other ways it's very positive.
