route66modeler Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Hi, Looking for a car with the hood open. I have a org issue amt 58 that I want to open the hood on. THanks for any help I can get. Steve
HotRodaSaurus Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 Give Google images a try. I always use this and owners club sites for references.

sjordan2 Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 (edited) Stuff like this brochure is always helpful... http://www.fordinsid...-Edsel-brochure More and bigger images... http://www.oldcarbro...l/dirindex.html Accessories (click on next at the upper right of each image) http://www.oldcarbro...l%20Acc-00.html Edited January 12, 2012 by sjordan2
Junkman Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 http://www.edsel.com/pages/pavail.htm What a beauty! I bet it has low mileage. Then again, so does the Titanic.
Jon Cole Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I have an album of Edsel pics... http://public.fotki.com/JCole/11_fomoco/11-edsel-please-tra/ ...but you could find them on Google as well.
Peter Lombardo Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I am a little confused...........if you want to update the underhood section on the Edsel, why not locate one of the "newer" AMT issues from a few years ago (ebay, model roundup,etc...) and transplant that section into the older Edsel? That is what I would do, but I could be all wet.
Jairus Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I had forgotten about these till you asked. I was mostly concerned with the details regarding the door jambs at the time. Something to make note of is that the fender well liner runs from the core support to just behind the wheel. This is not replicated correctly in the kits. I know... because I have a 1958 Ford! The engine compartment goes clear to the fender sheet-metal behind the wheel arch! Great place for dump pipes huh? More pics here.
Jairus Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Here is a better look at the drivers side. Passengers side. And the firewall, all same as the Edsel.

For that matter, find and build the AMT/Ertl release of the '58 Edsel Pacer HT--it's the SAME subject as the original 1958-issue '58 Edsel, same body style, Pacer trim--much more highly detailed, WITH opening hood. Hmmmm? Art
