Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 All right, I've had it. The year has started and I have yet to get something going. NO MORE. I am challenging myself and putting it out for any one else who might be crazy enough to join Doctor Cranky and EYEGORE on a 3-DAY WEEKEND build. That's right, you heard right, we are going to build a car in the Lab-RAT-ory THIS WEEKEND. The deadline is Midnight Monday! Saturday = cleaning up and primering the parts Sunday = Painting Monday = Assembling and detailing. Can we do it? There's only one way to find out. I got the Gremlin kit and I am building it by Monday. Working through the night is allowed. LOL!
jdmfan Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 ill go pick out a kit tonight and if i find something i like ill join ya for a 3 day build.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 You are a real trooper, Chris. You can find the kit tonight and leave the parts soaking in warm soapy water. Get the parts ready for cleaning and primer early tomorrow.
01blueedge Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 cant wait to see what you do with this one
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 For anyone out there who thinks I am crazy, well, think again. THIS IS CRAZY, but what would you expect on a Friday the 13th over a long weekend. We'll find out who survives come Monday night. Oh, and please post all your progress here. I'm going to try my best to keep track of the build via photographs. I got my table top photo studio all clean and ready to go.Josh, in all honesty, neither could I. If I survive this one, then I will be ready for the 24 HOUR build coming up!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 LOL, and if I survive that, then I'll do just fine for the Post Apocalypse build which is a year-long CB. Wouldn't it be interesting to find out if you can in fact build a car in 24 hours, or 72. It might just change the way you build, for good or bad. It's an experiment. The kind we love here in the Lab-RAT-ory!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 I've told the wife to please defrost of few more blocks of Scrapple for the infamous 2AM Scrapple Sandwiches which will hopefully boost my energy, or set the Lab-RAT-ory on fire! Nothing produces more methane than a Scrapple Sandwich.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Or maybe I can get Donn Yost to stop by Prumanti Bros. and send me a couple of their infamous sandwiches from Pittsburgh!
Dr. Cranky Posted January 13, 2012 Author Posted January 13, 2012 Why the Gremlin? Oh man, I just got it and think it is so cool. I haven't seen a Gremlin since I rode in one in 1977. Plus it's a cool kit with not too many parts. Check out the one Dave Van is building here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=51456&pid=597524&st=100&#entry597524
01blueedge Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 I think I might try to get in on this but I will have to be a day short because I have to be at the hospital with my son all day monday. now to find something to build
ranma Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 If it would count I'd do my 57 chevy (pro shop)but I allready painted the body tropical turquoise w/white top turquoise and black int. this comes w/rubber hoses and photo etched grill.

Dr. Cranky Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Kenn, that's fine. It's perfect. I will probably do some work on it during the night myself. Time is a-flying, so we have to get busy.
Bridgebuster Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 All right, I'm committed now: http://www.youtube.c...66?feature=mhee Attaboy Doc, go for it. We're pullin' for ya.

jeffs396 Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Wow, I'd LOVE to participate in this, but my bride is working all weekend and I've gotta keep the kiddos occupied I'll be watching though!
mrm Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I am in also. In case no one has guessed it, yes I'll go for another '32 Ford.
Dr. Cranky Posted January 14, 2012 Author Posted January 14, 2012 Suddenly, I am no longer feeling so alone. Got the parts out of the bubble bath and dry enough to start cleaning them for gluing and assembly, then comes primer . . .right, like I am already getting ahead of myself.
