well i have no idea on how they can squeeze out 300hp from it, but if a tesla roadster can pump out 288hp and 295lbs/trq from a generator on battery steroids, then i dont see why they couldn't do it to a hybrid.

I know when your racing electric rc, the farther into a race you get, the less your power potential is...I'm guessing the hybrid part plays very little into this...but man that thing looks killer.

how is it a bad decision? you are aware that the technology from racing filters down to street cars right? with the lessons learned racing a Prius we could very well end up at some point with a performance version of that car that would have your beloved old school American muscle eating some serious dust. do i like or want a Prius? heck no, i have a boring enough Camry as it is, but to see the Prius as a racecar or even a "tuned" or modified street car i think is pretty cool.

I just simply don't believe in electric cars...hence why I said "in my opinion"

That's pretty cool...would be interesting to see a series w/ Prius, Leaf, i, and Volt race cars..

Yea and you wouldn't need ear plugs ! A full race, tricked out Volt; what could be better? LOL

Andy, if you'd looked at those pics of the racecar with more than a passing glance and judgement you may have noticed the dual exhaust pipes sticking out of the rear. as a Hybrid it's not just an electric car, the racecar is more than likely all gas powered and undoubtedly highly tuned. not "believing" in electric cars is kind of funny, because they are very real, there is no denying that they exist and have pretty much since the dawn of the automobile. not believing in UFO's and aliens? well you'd certainly have a good debate or arguement there.

Remember, from other threads, Andy probably thinks the earth is flat and that it's still 1968.. :)

And it's a hybrid, so it has a gasoline engine in addition to the electric motor... it wouldn't surprise me if it doesn't have some sort of KERS system utilizing the electric motor...

before we get into the displacement and "big-block" debate, this 2.0 4cyl. makes 1600+HP thanks to modern technology and electronics

That my friend is technology at its finest !!!

The only problem I have with cars like that is when its labeled as "the fastest Coblat" or " the fastes PT crusier" Its a purpose built race car much like the Toyota that started this thread..but awesome machines none the less !!!

I don't care. It was still an electric car to begin with. Not to mention that it doesn't fit into Super GT at all..

I wish it was still 1968

And the KERS system...isn't that only for electric cars?

it's not a Volt, it's a Cobalt but still...................

it's a FWD that goes in the 7's in the 1/4 mile

And also thanks to a huge turbo*

Sorry for not quoting them, the forum keep saying the opening tags does not match the number of closing tags.<_<

if you want to drag the NHRA and NASCAR into this, those are two excellent examples of where the organizations are "dumbing" things down in an attempt to control technology that has essentially left them both in the dust.

??? YOU are the one who brought up drag racing; I could care less about NASCAR.

so what if the Cobalt Pro FWD car as a turbo on it, a Top Fuel dragster is supercharged, both are power "adders"

Of course.

the Prius apparently fits just fine into GT300, obviously as it's been built to compete in that series

I don't feel like getting banned, so I'll just leave it at that.

Aaaaand the quotes don't work again.

If it was 1968, you would not be here for another 20 years. I wish it were 1968 again sometimes too, other times not as much. But then I lived through 1968.
