MyBradKeselowski Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Great looking pair of promos, you did a good job on both. I like the vinyl top on the Dart. I like the Brandywine on the Silverado, love that shine it...
car-man666 Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 cool car and truck ,something you don't see often,
horsepower Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Great looking pair of promos, you did a good job on both. I like the vinyl top on the Dart. Amazing what a little polish & a lot of elbow grease can accomplish, ain't it?
Draggon Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 I like that Silverado! What do you use to polish the plastic? I recently got some "Ultra Restore" from Innovative Hobbies. I tried it out on an old 40 Ford molded in black and it works so well that paint is not needed.

Amazing what a little polish & a lot of elbow grease can accomplish, ain't it? Yes, that is the color of the plastic. Believe it or not, I use a 15 year old bottle of Formula 113 wax/sealant. Made by a company in Lakeland, FL. Still in business. I bought cases of this stuff back then when I had my car lot. Used to use it on everything. Incredible on kits and promos. Restores old diecast finishes as well. I still have a couple a bottles left. I'd like to try the ultra-restore, but I'm willing to bet is similar to the product I am using. I've tried everything, 1:1 cars and scale, and the Formula 113 has worked the best for me. Chrome, glass, rubber, plastic, all types of paints, in the sun, you name it.
Casey Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Great looking pair of promos, you did a good job on both. I like the vinyl top on the Dart. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the top is painted, not a replica of a vinyl top. It was an option and the molding was used as the break point for the two paint colors. Great color combo!
realgone58 Posted January 27, 2012 Author Posted January 27, 2012 Casey, your right.........top is painted. I did not lay tape to do a vinyl roof, simply used the break point in the mold and sprayed it.
spkgibson Posted February 5, 2012 Posted February 5, 2012 The dart steering wheel can be found in the last issue of the AMT 75 Duster, Which in fact is a 76 Dart Sport. I have that same yellow 76 and A Blue one, And Burgandy 75. I thought about doing the same thing, But when I was removing the screws from the blue 76 I started to here a cracking noise, So I Quickly tightined it back. Very nice job on both of them , And those Missing Link wheel covers look great on those Darts, I get annoyed with everything having the ralleys on them. This is how most of those were seen back then . Now if Missing Link would make the 72-76 Duster wheel covers for my 10 kits I have , Hint Hint Kevin!
