Steve Keck Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Just like it says. I'm finishing my latest build and I just can't face fabricating my own.
Tonioseven Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 Look up "Eduard seat belts" http://www.google.com/search?q=eduard+1:24+seat+belts&hl=en&source=lnms&ei=OA4hT_2YGNThsQK2vam7CQ&sa=X&oi=mode_link&ct=mode&cd=1&ved=0CC4Q_AUoAA&biw=1440&bih=700
Roadkill2525 Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 The only thing about the Eduard belts is that the paint starts flaking off once you start bending them.
Mooneyzs Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 There used to be a company called Cover Shot Models that had a ready to go 5 point harness set up. they were about $10 a harness. i will have to post a pic later but I dont believe they are making them anymore. wish they were still around because they were a nice set up.
Steve Keck Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 try scale models by chris Thanx, Mike. I found them here: http://www.scalemodelingbychris.com/smbc_detailingp1.htm Has anyone used these? The pictures on the website leave a lot to the imagination.
Mooneyzs Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 (edited) Here is a pic of the Cover Shot Models harness. I just wish they were still around becasue they were very nice. sorry that the lighting in the pic isn't that great. Edited January 27, 2012 by Mooneyzs
Steve Keck Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I just revisited this topic to find the address of the vendor I posted previously. I have to ask, Chris, how does it help me to post pictures of unavailable products?
caine440 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Did you get a set from SMBC? They look very interesting.
Steve Keck Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I ordered a set today. I'll be posting a product review after I receive them. Hopefully the product will be on a higher level than the response I received from customer service. I'm not optomistic.
martinfan5 Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 Maybe he posted a pic for reference for you, sometimes you can still find after market products that are not being made anymore
Mooneyzs Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I just revisited this topic to find the address of the vendor I posted previously. I have to ask, Chris, how does it help me to post pictures of unavailable products? Steve I know it doesn't help you with me posting pics of parts thay are no longer avaliable but i wanted to show them incase you were to find someone at a swap meet or somewhere that just by chance had them. im my opinion and this is just my own these were the best sets of 5 point harness's that was out there. if i ever find them i know i will pick them uo in a hearbeat. as far as I know there is no one that sells them pre-made anymore. I really wish these were still avaliable or someone else did a set like this. there are multiple aftermarket companies that have the photoetch parts and you build the harness yourself.
roadhawg Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 The ones you ordered are printed on a fabric-ky type paper, so don't be expecting metal parts. They look ok in a pinch, except.....well, they have all the belts neatly buckled together in the center. That ain't real. I've never see a real driver get out of his car, reach back in and neatly buckle the seatbelts back together, and walk away. I guess you could cut them apart, but........ The Pro-Tech seat belt kit Dave mentioned is indeed nice, and easy to assemble, but it is the late model cam-lock type buckle. For guys like me that like 70's short track cars, we need a lever type buckle....so Detail Master is pretty much it. Hey Charlie, from Pro-Tech....how about it? A seat belt set with a lever lock? I'd buy a few.
aksarben Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 If you are looking for a seat belt set with a lever lock, you might consider these. http://www.radubstore.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=89&products_id=200 They are for 1/32 aircraft models but I have used them in a 1/24 race car project and I think they scale out perfectly. They are very nice. They only come in singles. Shipping is very fast I recieved my set in about a week. Here is how they look in my project. I just painted the straps and supplied my own logos. Steve
Len Woodruff Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 I used some 1/24 scale fighter seat belts on my 57 Chevey Black Widow. I think they were from Eduard but I replaced the metal straps with some cloth material.
roadhawg Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Steve Those DO look good, and according to the description thay sound easy to assemble. I'm going to order a few sets and give them a try. Thanks!
