OK, more Mopar questions....

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Is it safe to assume that not all Cuda and Challengers came with huge motors?

I'd like to build a bare bones Cuda/Challenger grocery getter just for something different..

Could you get a 6 cyl in one of those cars? and if so, can anyone recommend a good doner kit?

Same goes for steelies and dog dish hubcaps..

As usual, any help/recommendations would be appreciated ^_^

Cheers, Ian

Could be wrong, but I don't think the Slant 6 was available in the Challenger. I think the base engine was the 318-2V engine.

Nope, I'm wrong. The 6 was available in both hardtop and convertible. But they didn't make many. These must have been the Deputy models.

If you are going to use a Slant 6 from the 64 Dodge or Plymouth kits update the valve cover to the post 1969 smooth style rather than the ribbed valve cover in the kit. A closer to correct valve cover can be found in the Deora kit although it is chromed, problem is it doesn't fit the Lindberg Slant very well.

Someone mentioned (maybe it was you, Ron) the Deora Slant Six is attached to a 3-speed manual transmission, which may be another reason to find one versus the (very nice) Lindberg /6. You'll need to find a resin-cast base-model hood, too.

This was a /6 Barracuda which was parted out long ago:

Actually its the Lindberg 64 Plymouth kit that has the 3 speed manual trans, the 64 Dodge and Deora kits both have automatics.

Another note on Slant engines, 1960-69 engines were painted red, 1970 and later are painted Chrysler light blue.
