Final actual 1:1 picture is a 1959 Dodge Coronet that I bought in Oct. 1996. I'd always wanted an "Old car" and at this time I was "into" modeling and old cars in a big way. I wanted to make the Dodge a mild Custom so I added some dress up chrome doodads in the engine bay, and added twin mirrors, twin dummy spots, twin swept back antennas, lake pipes, '59 Caddy taillights and chrome exhaust tips. I put on some pinstripe tape flames and was really lucky to get a OEM set of '59 Dodge Lancer spinner hubcaps from one of the guys in the LIARS Club for FREE...!!! He had them hanging on the wall in his garage... I sold the car in 1995. I stopped driving in 1992 after having a stroke and believe me I miss the hell out of this car. It was my baby...

I was thrilled when I found an Excel '59 Dodge Promo and I started trying to make the model look like I eventually wanted the 1:1 car to look. Unfortunately that never happened but it was great working on this model. I got the resin interior and the hubcaps from the Modelhaus.

Cool idea, I'll have to google some of my cars to see if there were kits made of them. The first four I owned in order were: 1974 Trans Am SD455, 1974 Maverick Grabber, 1973 Gran Torino fast back and 1972 Mustang fast back. It went down hill from there:lol

I am in the process of building my first. It's a replica of a '69 Chevy phantom SS 396 truck. I had actually gathered the SS badges from a '66 Chevelle SS and a hood from a '68 Chevelle SS for the hood bumps to graft on to the hood of my truck. Mechanically it was finished. I had the seats & console from a Blazer lined up but not yet purchased when I got t-boned by a speeder running a stop sign. Totalled, frame too bent to save! That was in '06. I just got back into modeling recently & decided I would finish my truck in 1/25 if all the parts I wanted were available. They exist! I only need the P.E. set for the SS trim, it's on the way, and the 6-lug rally wheels that the factory most likely would have put on this phantom. Thanks to Sam Cates, they're on yhe way as well! I have already grafted the hood parts together & the grille from Bandit Resins is gonna take a bath tomorrow night. The 396 + 4-speed is coming from Revells 66 Chevelle wagon, so I'll be able to use the left over P.E. parts on it at a later date. I did just start this & have a long way to go. Shaved the 350 badges from the cab. Chrome trim & Cheyenne badges will come off next, as I can imagine GM would have done in giving this truck the "SS" treatment. The chrome rocker trim from the wagon will go on the cab & shortened bed. My plan was to paint it metallic black because that's what my 1:1 was, but I'm kinda leaning towards Cortez silver with black SS stripes. I'm gonna also TRY cutting the tailgate trim off of my donor '68 El camino to replace the CHEVROLET script on the trucks tailgate. AC unit & accessories will come from a '70 Monte glue bomb I picked up from Fred's for $2. Sounds good to me, we'll see if it works!

I would like to do the truck in my avatar, and maybe my '74 Corolla SR5. I haven't been able to find all the parts for them tho. Love that '59. A friend in high school had one, called it "The Barge".

most of my builds are "replicas" of cars i've had at one time... sometimes more than one, because i HAVE been known to buy another of that same car.... re Falcons, Galaxies, Mustangs, F100's.... well over 150 1:1 cars in my lifetime.... only two Falcons, an F150 and a Taurus, not counting the Fleetwood motorhome, now. (well; doing a replica of the F150, already have replicas of the two Falcons..)

i've built most all of the cars I've owned, an now, I build cars I've PERSONALLY known. Growin up in the mid/late 60's, early 70's when I graduated, there's NO limit on the really cool cars I've had the pleasure of knowing and rideing in. From Hemi's to COPO Camaro's to a Boss 429 Mustang, I've had the pleasure to know SOMEONE who owned one!!! Now, I get to own them too!:D:);)

Virge, R&R makes a 65 resin Dart if your interested. I've got one it's a curbside, but with a bit a work, it comes out pretty nice. Johnny Lee had one in high school, but traded it for a 71 'Cuda 440 6 pak with a shaker hood when we graduated! I rode with him(and got to drive it) when we went for our Draft physicals! (I was 12, he was ONE! guess who went to VN???BOTH of us!!!!:blink::rolleyes: )

My first vehicle was a 1988 Ford Ranger, then I had a 1995 Ford Escort GT, then a 1990 Mazda MX-6 (that I still have), none of which exist in scale form! My more recent vehicles I can build, however: 1997 Ford Expedition, 1996 Ford F-150, 2000 Ford F-150.

I currently only have the '00 F-150 and the '90 MX-6 (and another '89 MX-6); the rest have been sold (or scrapped in the case of the Escort).

I've built a couple of '57 Fords. I had a one owner convertable in the early 60s and a two door post in the mid 60s for a second car. It was the same as the new Revell model with a 312 and 3 speed overdrive. In 1966 I got a new Impala SS, so the new Revell Impala was used on that build. In 1985 we got a new 1986 Monte Carlo SS. Again Revell had a very nice model I built several years ago. I have a Polar Lights model of my '05 GTO and model of our new '10 Charger RT. Starting on a 1951 Ford hot rod like the old days. Rustolume flat black was considered a finish coat and an old Army blanket for seat covers. The warmed over flat head with Evans heads and three 97s.
