Dave Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Don't know if you guys ever followed wrestling. Ricky Morton of the rock and roll express lives near me.One day I got behind him in line at local conveinance store, had to tell him to hurry up and that I dindn't have all day for him to count pennies out for beer.I was gonna be late for work.He is only 5'6" tall any way. looked bigger on tv. I saw him and Jimmy Valiant (Boogie Woogie) not too many years ago, seeling pics of themselves in a local mall, promoting a show at the amory and hawking a wrestling camp.....Valient looked rough, if I hadn't known better I figured him for a homeless guy lookin for a handout.
Romell R Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Well heres the man himself i didnt get in the pic with him cause I had no one to take the picture but he was nice enough to have the driver stop so we could chat for a few mins.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 Congratulations, John. I am sure you will have this picture framed and placed in a place of honor in your collection. This is the kind of attention all your builds deserve. It will not surprise me if one of these fine days they will curate a John Teresi show at the Petersen Museum or at the Smithsonian!
Agent G Posted February 6, 2012 Posted February 6, 2012 Wayne Dad was a cop here in Fargo for 33 years before he retired. He was a Sgt. That pic was he walked the beat downtown on skid row. Very nice, 33 years was long enough. I can't imagine a Fargo foot beat in the winter. He was certainly from the era when men were iron and ships were wood. G
Dr. Cranky Posted February 6, 2012 Author Posted February 6, 2012 not a car builder but when I was 12 I met my Idol... Evel Knievel a few weeks before the snake river canyon jump. He was a larger than life Hero to me ..I'll never forget it. sadly no photos Living In Nashville I've met quite a few celebs and country stars, one of the best was meeting Billy Cox from the Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies. I talked with him for about 1/2 hr discussing the hendrix days. Oh man, Andy, that's too bad there isn't a picture, it would have been the coolest item in your scrapbook. Buy hey, nothing beats having met the man.

Terry Sumner Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 No pictures handy at the moment, but here are the "famous" people I met in my State Police Career... I picked up Tip O'Neil, who was then Speaker of the House, at the airport and drove him to some kind of political fund raiser in Norwich, Ct. I picked up Col. Oliver North from the same airport sometime after the whole Iran-Contra thing and took him to some kind of dinner in New London, Ct. I have a pic of me with him but can't find it right now. In June of 1990, during the New England Governor's Conference which was held in Mystic, Ct., I was assigned as the bodyguard to the Prime Minister of New Brunswick, Canada, Frank McKenna and his wife. I drove him to and from the conference and anywhere else they wanted to go for three days. His wife wanted to go shopping during the day so I had to show her where some good places were to get some certain items she wanted....patio furniture cushions as I recall...lol. I was on the Security detail for President Bill Clinton's visit to the Coast Guard Academy and got to stand within about 25' of him. And I was on the security detail for Tipper Gore when she paid a visit to New London, Ct and was within a few feet of her at times. And then there were all the various Governors of Conn. during my years on the job where I was involved in security details... As for car guys?.. well I got to meet a heck of a lot of drivers in the early 70's when I was one of the announcers at Ct. Dragway. Wish I had pics but wasn't even thinking of taking pics at those times... wish I had.
trogdor Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 No pics but I did have the famous MikeMc over to my house for dinner twice
sjordan2 Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 Shot TV commercials with John Madden and Geoff Bodine for Exxon Superflo motor oil. For Food City's NASCAR promotions: Dale Earnhardt Sr. & Jr., Darrell Waltrip, Michael Waltrip, Richard Childress, Richard Petty, Kyle Petty, Rusty Wallace, Jimmy Spencer. Cool parts: got to ride around the Atlanta Raceway a few laps with Geoff Bodine in his race car, hanging on to the roll cage (and also got to drive a SAAB turbo around the track), and got a tour of Petty racing's facility from Kyle Petty, who also drove us around his Victory Junction facility for sick children while it was under construction.
Agent G Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Terry's post reminded me of a couple of celebrity encounters. Back about 1980 or 81 Elton John was appearing on stage down on the riverfront. When we picked him up from the airport he traded shirts with a sergeant and rode in the lead police car. The sergeant rode in the limo, I was on a bike up front. We snuck him in and had no issues. Thanks to the Secret Service I was locked in a meeting room with Bill Clinton once. They got their panties all wadded up and locked down the hotel. I was the bomb tech who was supposed to "clear" the issue, but those folks get a bit anal now and then. We drank coffee and waited. Bill said he was glad Hillary was in another room. I was standing on a sidewalk watching a crowd when someone poked me in the back and asked "Is this the right way to the stage?" I turned around and was face to face with Jimmy Carter. Well, more like face to top of the President's head. We got that straightened out pretty quick. Pope John Paul visited St Louis in January 1999. His Eminence brought the Popemobile and all the bodyguards. The Secret Service decided his Holiness should ride in a armored limo to the residence he was staying in. He, on the other hand, wanted to take the Popemobile. Stubborn little cuss he was, but I didn't blame him, he had a bad hip and that limo wasn't comfortable. You could see he was enjoying himself with the debate. He finally walked to the Popemobile and as he was leaving gave us all a big grin and a thumbs up. It was fun. G.
