CarModDave Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 This is the latest from the bench, even though it was finished a few months ago! It's a custom Rambler Speedster, built from the AMT "Ram-Blur" kit. Bodywork includes lengthening the doors a scale 4"; sectioning the body by 3"; filling in the hole for the blower in the hood; adding a scratch built cowl induction style scoop; sloping the nose forward; relocating the tail lights (tail lights made from red sprue); squaring the rear wheel openings; adding the speedster style rear deck (headrest bumps were made from the top halves of Revell pro stock hood scoops!); slanting the windshield back; reshaping the rear spoiler and adding '59 Porsche 365A Speedster headlights. I also "beefed up" the lower rear portion of the car, right behing the rear bumper. Interior is from the Revell Dodge Sidewinder truck with carbon fiber decal accents.
Jairus Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Wow, that's neat! Beats the heck out of what I did....
Andy Wyatt Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 WHOA!! That rocks! Where are the flame wheels from?
kod38 Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 A-MA-ZING!!!!!!!!!!! That is way beyond killer! Love it!!! Doug R
CarModDave Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Thanks for the kind words, guys! This was actually my very first custom.....after 30+ years of building! The wheels are from Machined Aluminum Specialties. I know Mark no longer accepts orders through his website ( www.mas-parts.com ) and sells at some shows "up north" (he's in Michigan) but I beleive he does do some mail order.
Jairus Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 Modelcardave, Welcome aboard! You'll make a nice addition to MCM Online Forum! 8)
CarModDave Posted March 8, 2006 Author Posted March 8, 2006 Thanks, Jairus. But dude..................your art has inspired myself and countless others. I'm happy you enjoyed the Rambler. By the way, I am currently working on a project based on yet another of your renderings - the Hugger Orange 66 Chevelle Z/28 Wagon! Thanks again.
lordairgtar Posted March 9, 2006 Posted March 9, 2006 That is a most awsome car, kinda puts it in a different level when you put it next to the original Ram-blur
